In May 2024, Triple M WA breakfast host Robbie Von said he had asked AI to help write a rap about West Coast Eagles player Harley Reid. PerthNow reported that Von shared the song with a video compilation of Reid and hoped it would go viral.
What was the Harley Reid AI song?
It was a rap about Reid, the West Coast Eagles player. PerthNow reported on 28 May 2024 that Von shared it on Instagram alongside a video compilation of Reid playing. The report says Von also spoke about the song on air.
Von described the process to listeners this way: “The world is going crazy for Harley Reid. I asked AI to help me write a rap song about Harley — and I think it’s pretty good!” PerthNow’s report is the source for the account and quotation.
Who made it, and what role did AI play?
Robbie Von, host of Triple M WA’s “Robbie for Breakfast,” was identified as the person behind the song. He said AI helped him write it. PerthNow did not name the AI system or explain how Von used it, so the specific tool and creative workflow are unknown.

What lyrics did PerthNow report?
PerthNow reproduced selected lines, including:
- “Harley Reid — the man with the speed. On the field, he’s a human highlight reel indeed,”
- “Only ten games in, he’s already got the fame. West Coast Eagles got a star with a new name!”
- “HARLEY REID! Soaring high – he’s the one to watch. Rising above the rest, he’s got the special touch.”
- “When he pulls out the ‘don’t argue’ – you better beware. Harley’s here to show you, he’s the KING OF THE AIR!”
These are lyrics reproduced in the news report, not an independently verified transcript of the audio. The “ten games” line reflects the song’s May 2024 framing, not a current statistic.
Did the song go viral or get commercially released?
Von said, “I want this to go viral! Let’s see if we can get this to take off!” That was his stated hope, not evidence that the song went viral. PerthNow’s report does not establish whether the Instagram post remains available or whether the song was later released commercially; it should not be treated as a confirmed album or purchasable recording.
