Ghosts Season 6 is confirmed. CBS renewed the U.S. sitcom through the 2026–27 broadcast season, but the new regular season is being held for midseason 2027. CBS had not announced an exact premiere date in the latest available reporting, so any article promising a specific day is getting ahead of the evidence.
Before Season 6 arrives, CBS has scheduled two separate holiday events: a two-episode Halloween block on October 29, 2026, and a two-episode Christmas block on December 10, 2026. Those specials are best treated as bridge programming rather than automatically counted as the first episodes of Season 6.
Ghosts Season 6 release date: what is confirmed?
The CBS version of Ghosts will return for Season 6 in midseason 2027. In broadcast-TV terms, that generally means the winter or early-spring portion of the 2026–27 television season, but CBS has not yet supplied a precise premiere date in the reporting available for this update.
CBS announced on February 20, 2025, that it had renewed nine series, including Ghosts, for the 2025–26 and 2026–27 seasons. That announcement makes Season 6 a confirmed continuation—not a rumor or a speculative renewal—but it does not identify Season 6 as the show’s final season. CBS’s renewal announcement is the primary confirmation.

Why are there holiday specials before Season 6?
CBS’s fall 2026 schedule places the Halloween and Christmas installments ahead of the regular Season 6 run. Based on the available scheduling information, they should not automatically be described as Season 6 episodes. CBS’s eventual episode metadata may clarify how the network classifies them.
The arrangement gives viewers new Ghosts material in late 2026 while the regular season waits until 2027. It also means that “the next new Ghosts episode” and “the Season 6 premiere” may refer to different things: the specials arrive first, but the formal season launch is currently scheduled for midseason.
What happens in the Halloween special?
The Halloween event is expected to deal with the aftermath of the Season 5 finale and introduce Hetty’s previously unseen sister, who is also a ghost. That character introduction has been reported, but the available information does not establish the full plot or reveal how much of Pete’s storyline will be resolved.

What happens in the Christmas special?
Co-showrunner Joe Port has described the Christmas installment as a one-hour, Die Hard-inspired story. In the reported premise, people from the past hold the ghosts hostage and Jay has to save the day.
That is a premise tease, not a complete synopsis. It does not confirm every guest character, the identities of the captors, or the precise way the ghosts become trapped. The special is scheduled for December 10, 2026, at 9 p.m. Eastern/8 p.m. Central, with two episodes filling the hour.

Season 6 cast: who is returning?
The principal returning ensemble is expected to include:
- Rose McIver as Samantha “Sam” Arondekar
- Utkarsh Ambudkar as Jay Arondekar
- Danielle Pinnock as Alberta Haynes
- Richie Moriarty as Pete Martino
- Asher Grodman as Trevor Lefkowitz
- Román Zaragoza as Sasappis
- Rebecca Wisocky as Hetty Woodstone
- Sheila Carrasco as Flower
- Brandon Scott Jones as Isaac Higgintoot
The major cast change is Ben Feldman’s promotion to series regular. Feldman plays Kyle, a living character who can see the Woodstone ghosts. His presence gives the show another human perspective in addition to Sam, who remains the central living person able to communicate with the ghost residents.

The series continues to be produced by CBS Studios in association with Lionsgate Television and BBC Studios Los Angeles Productions. Joe Port and Joe Wiseman remain the showrunners and executive producers. Other executive producers include Richie Keen and members of the original British Ghosts creative team, reflecting the U.S. adaptation’s continuing connection to the BBC series.
Will Pete return in Season 6?
Pete’s fate is Season 6’s biggest unanswered question. In the Season 5 finale, he had been away from Woodstone for too long. His body progressively disappeared, and Sam, Jay, and Kyle could not bring him back before he vanished completely.
The characters do not yet know what happened to him. The available reporting also does not confirm whether Pete returns, remains absent, or undergoes some new supernatural change. Richie Moriarty’s involvement in the returning ensemble has been reported, but that should not be treated as proof that Pete is permanently restored or present in every episode.
Most importantly, Pete has not been officially confirmed as dead, permanently gone, or “sucked off.” The Halloween special is expected to address the post-finale status quo, but its reported premise does not settle the mystery. Until CBS or the show’s producers provide a definite answer, Pete’s disappearance remains an intentional cliffhanger.

Is Season 6 the final season of Ghosts?
No. CBS has renewed Ghosts through the 2026–27 broadcast season, which covers Season 6, but the renewal announcement does not call it the final season. There is currently no reliable basis for describing Season 6 as the ending of the series.
Where can you watch Ghosts before Season 6?
The official CBS show page lists five available seasons and identifies the series as a CBS comedy. Paramount+’s official Ghosts page also provides the existing episode library. Availability, subscription requirements, and regional rights can vary, so viewers outside the United States should check their local service listings.
For U.S. viewers, the most straightforward catch-up options are the official CBS and Paramount+ platforms. CBS has not yet announced a separate Season 6 streaming date in the researched material. Do not assume that the regular Season 6 premiere, the Halloween special, and the Christmas special will have identical streaming availability until CBS or Paramount+ publishes those details.
How to catch up
- Use the official CBS or Paramount+ episode pages to confirm which of the five existing seasons are available in your territory.
- Watch the Season 5 finale last if you want to preserve the Pete cliffhanger for yourself.
- Check CBS listings again before October 29, 2026, for the Halloween event’s final episode titles and availability.
- Look for a separate Season 6 premiere announcement rather than treating the holiday blocks as proof that the regular season has started.
For viewers who prefer physical media, a Ghosts Season 1 DVD is a narrowly relevant catch-up option, subject to current U.S. inventory, seller, region, and format. It is not evidence of a complete five-season collection or a Season 6 DVD release. Later seasons have generally been more consistently positioned as digital or streaming purchases, so check the listing details before buying.

Even with the renewal and holiday schedule confirmed, several details remain open:
- The exact Season 6 premiere date.
- The final episode titles and official classification of the Halloween and Christmas installments.
- Whether Pete returns and, if so, what caused his disappearance.
- How much screen time Kyle receives now that Ben Feldman is a series regular.
- The complete Season 6 episode count.
- The full guest cast and detailed plots for the holiday specials.
- Season 6 streaming dates and availability outside the United States.
- Whether and when Season 6 receives a physical DVD or Blu-ray release.
These gaps are normal for a series announced well ahead of its broadcast window. The reliable facts are the renewal, the midseason 2027 placement, the two scheduled 2026 specials, the returning ensemble, and Kyle’s upgraded status.

They are scheduled as separate holiday events before the regular midseason 2027 run. Until CBS publishes official episode metadata, they should not automatically be counted as Season 6 episodes.
Is Pete coming back to Ghosts?
Pete’s fate remains unresolved after the Season 5 finale. Reports indicate that the Halloween special will address what happened, but producers have not confirmed whether Pete returns or permanently disappears.
Is Ghosts Season 6 the last season?
No. CBS renewed the show through the 2026–27 broadcast season, but it has not described Season 6 as the final season.
Where can I watch the existing Ghosts seasons?
The official CBS and Paramount+ pages list the show’s five existing seasons. Availability and streaming terms can vary by country, so check the relevant official listing for your location.
The Bottom Line
The short version: the U.S. Ghosts is returning for a confirmed Season 6 in midseason 2027. A Halloween special is scheduled for October 29, 2026, and a two-episode Christmas event for December 10, 2026. Pete’s disappearance is the central unresolved story, Kyle is becoming a series regular, and no exact Season 6 premiere date—or final-season designation—has been announced.
