The 2025 MTV Video Music Awards are over. The ceremony aired on September 7, 2025, at 8 p.m. ET (5 p.m. PT) from UBS Arena in Elmont, New York. CBS carried the show for the first time, with a simultaneous MTV broadcast and a U.S. stream on Paramount+. You can still try the official replay and find artist-specific clips, but there is no live VMAs broadcast today.
Where to watch the 2025 VMAs now
Start with the official CBS video page, which identifies the full-show video as the September 7, 2025 broadcast. Access can depend on your account, market and the platform’s current rights.
You can also search Paramount+ for “2025 MTV Video Music Awards.” A replay may require an active subscription and can be removed or restricted without notice. MTV’s official watch page and VMA video area are better suited to highlights and individual clips than to a guaranteed complete replay.

Where the ceremony streamed live in the United States
| Route | What viewers needed | Important limitation |
|---|---|---|
| Paramount+ Premium | U.S. subscription with the Premium tier and the live local CBS feed | Local CBS availability varies; the Essential plan did not include the local live CBS station. |
| CBS through a TV provider | Cable, satellite or live-TV service carrying the viewer’s CBS affiliate | Channel carriage is market- and package-dependent. |
| MTV | Participating TV-provider login | MTV authentication and regional rights applied; a Paramount+ account did not automatically replace a provider login. |
| Official YouTube | No-cost access to the official red-carpet pre-show | The red carpet was not evidence of a free, complete ceremony stream. |
Paramount+ plan details
For the original live broadcast, choose Premium if you need the local CBS livestream. Paramount’s event announcement explicitly distinguished Premium live-CBS access from Essential. Check your ZIP code before subscribing because Premium does not guarantee that every local affiliate is carried.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Paramount+’s signup page has advertised plans from $8.99 per month, while Paramount support material has listed Premium at $139.99 per year. Those prices are time-sensitive, may vary by promotion and region, and should be confirmed on the signup page before payment.
- Confirm that you are in the United States.
- Open Paramount+’s live-TV signup page.
- Select Premium, not Essential, when live local CBS is required.
- Check that your local CBS affiliate appears in your market.
- For the replay, search the service for the event title rather than opening only the live-channel guide.
Live-TV streaming alternatives
Hulu + Live TV, DIRECTV STREAM, Fubo and comparable bundles can work when they carry your local CBS station. Hulu’s official channel listing includes CBS, but availability is determined by ZIP code. These services generally cost more than a single-event streaming plan, so they make the most sense if you already want a broader live-TV replacement.

Can viewers outside the U.S. watch?
There was no universal international MTV stream. MTV’s international help page says the VMAs do not stream internationally through the U.S. MTV service. Rights were assigned by territory, so check your country’s MTV outlet, free-to-air broadcaster, CBS or Paramount service, and local TV providers.
For example, 2025 listings reported an Australian broadcast on 10 and 10 Comedy on September 8 local time. That was a dated 2025 schedule, not a promise of current availability. A U.S. Paramount+ subscription may also fail abroad because streaming rights are territorial.

Does a VPN provide an official international stream?
No. A VPN can change the apparent location of an internet connection, but it does not create broadcasting rights. If you are temporarily abroad, use a VPN only to access a service you already legitimately subscribe to and only where that service’s terms permit it. It is not a guaranteed or officially sanctioned way to watch the VMAs, and bypassing geographic controls may violate broadcaster or VPN terms.
What happened at the 2025 VMAs?
Mariah Carey received the Video Vanguard Award and performed. Lady Gaga performed and led the nominations, while Sabrina Carpenter was also announced as a performer. MTV’s performer and honoree listing is the reference point for the announced lineup. Individual videos can be edited, region-locked or removed, so treat each official upload as a separate availability decision.

Common problems and safe fixes
- You bought Essential but cannot find CBS live: Essential excluded the local live CBS station; check Premium or a live-TV provider with local CBS.
- Premium shows no CBS affiliate: Your market may not be supported. Verify availability before paying and use another CBS-carrying provider if necessary.
- MTV asks for a TV login: MTV’s authenticated stream generally requires a participating cable, satellite or live-TV account.
- The replay has disappeared: Rights can expire. Try the CBS page, Paramount+ search and official MTV clips rather than unofficial mirrors.
- A “free live VMAs” page demands credentials: Avoid pop-up-heavy sites, fake YouTube streams and pages requesting your streaming password; use CBS, Paramount+, MTV or verified artist channels.
Frequently Asked Questions
Was the 2025 VMAs stream free?
The full ceremony was not established as a universally free stream. CBS or Paramount+ access could require a subscription or TV-provider authentication; official red-carpet and selected performance clips were the safer no-cost options.

Yes, in the U.S. the original live route was Paramount+ Premium where the local CBS affiliate was available. A CBS-carrying live-TV streaming service was another option.

No. Essential did not include the local live CBS station needed for the live ceremony; Premium was the relevant tier, subject to local-affiliate availability.
Can I watch from outside the United States?
Not through a universal MTV international stream. Rights varied by country, and MTV’s help page says the VMAs do not stream internationally through the U.S. service.
Is the full ceremony still available?
The CBS page currently identifies a full-show video, but replay access can change by account, market and rights status. Individual official clips may remain available even if the full replay is removed.
