Opening Night Live versus the gamescom convention
“Gamescom start time” can refer to two different events:
- Opening Night Live: the online showcase took place Tuesday, August 20, 2024, beginning at 2 p.m. ET and 8 p.m. CEST.
- The physical gamescom convention: the Cologne event ran from Wednesday, August 21, through Sunday, August 25, 2024.
In other words, August 20 was the date of the livestream, not the first public day of the convention. The official Koelnmesse gamescom 2024 press release lists the convention dates.

Because the live event is over, use the official gamescom archive as the most durable starting point, with the YouTube replays as additional options. A live-event URL may redirect to a replay, and platforms can change or remove chat, captions or chapters over time. Avoid relying on unofficial restreams when the official archive is available.
Update: Gamescom Opening Night Live 2024 took place on August 20, 2024. The linked official replay pages provide access to the archived broadcast rather than a current live event.
