In the U.S., Cuckoo is streaming with Hulu and Challengers is available through Peacock as of August 16, 2026. Neither should be described as a movie newly added during the August 10–16 week, however. They are notable current catalog picks: a disturbing horror film and an adult tennis drama, with rental and purchase options also available.
Streaming availability changes by date, plan, and location, so treat this as a date-stamped U.S. guide rather than a permanent release calendar.

No—not on the evidence available here. The phrase “new to streaming” can mean a film’s first digital release, its arrival on subscription streaming, a new addition to one particular service, or a move to a free ad-supported platform. Those are different events.

Both films were already part of earlier streaming coverage in September 2024. At that point, Challengers was associated with Prime Video, while Cuckoo was covered as a video-on-demand title. Their current Hulu and Peacock listings are therefore best treated as present-day viewing options, not proof of a new August 2026 debut.
The same distinction matters for any weekly roundup: a listing on a digital store does not necessarily mean the film is included with a subscription, and a title newly highlighted by an editorial page is not automatically a new platform arrival.
Cuckoo: the horror pick
Cuckoo follows Gretchen, played by Hunter Schafer, after she moves with her father and his new family to a resort in the German Alps. What begins as an uneasy relocation develops into a surreal, increasingly threatening mystery.

Directed by Tilman Singer, the film is a strong choice for viewers who want atmospheric horror rather than a straightforward creature feature. Its appeal lies in its ominous setting, disorienting turns, and willingness to leave parts of its nightmare logic unresolved.
The film is rated R and runs approximately 102 minutes. Expect disturbing imagery and mature horror content. It is currently listed for subscription streaming on Hulu. Viewers without Hulu can compare rental and purchase listings through JustWatch’s U.S. availability page; the listed stores include Amazon Video, Apple TV Store, Fandango At Home, and Spectrum On Demand.

Challengers: the relationship-drama pick
Challengers centers on Tashi, a former tennis prodigy turned coach, and the complicated triangle connecting her with tennis players Art and Patrick. Zendaya, Josh O’Connor, and Mike Faist lead the cast.
Luca Guadagnino’s film uses professional tennis as both competition and metaphor. Matches, flashbacks, and shifting loyalties turn the sporting rivalry into a charged relationship drama. The result is a polished, adult-focused film for viewers more interested in ambition, desire, and emotional strategy than in a conventional sports story.
Challengers is rated R and runs 2 hours 11 minutes. The rating reflects mature sexual content and language. It is currently available through Peacock. Rental and purchase alternatives are also listed through Amazon Video, Apple TV Store, Fandango At Home, and Spectrum On Demand; JustWatch’s U.S. page can help compare those options.

Subscription streaming or one-time rental?
If you already subscribe to Hulu, Cuckoo is the straightforward choice. If you already use Peacock, Challengers is similarly convenient. In both cases, the subscription route makes the most sense when you also want the wider service catalog.

Store prices, rental windows, purchase prices, and video-quality options were not fixed in the available evidence, so check the final amount and terms on the provider’s page before paying.

Be careful with Prime Video listings in particular: a film appearing in the Prime Video store does not necessarily mean it is included with a Prime subscription. Look for an explicit “included” label rather than assuming that every title can be watched at no extra cost.

Several August 14–16, 2026 entertainment roundups identify movies and shows appearing across Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, Max, and other services. Those articles are useful discovery lists, but they are selective editorial roundups—not complete, platform-by-platform release schedules.
Without a title-by-title check against each service’s official schedule and page, it would be misleading to present an exhaustive list of “every movie” added during August 10–16. For a broader search, use JustWatch’s U.S. new-release timeline, then confirm whether a title is included with a subscription, available with ads, offered through an add-on channel, or restricted to rental or purchase.
Best picks by viewing need
- Best horror choice: Cuckoo, especially for viewers who prefer unsettling atmosphere and surreal mystery.
- Best relationship drama: Challengers, with tennis providing the structure for its emotional rivalry.
- Best choice if you already have Hulu: Cuckoo.
- Best choice if you already have Peacock: Challengers.
- Best single-film option: Compare a one-time rental before adding a subscription you will not otherwise use.
- Best free option: Neither verified title should be called free on the evidence available here. Hulu and Peacock require their applicable subscription access, while digital stores charge separately for rentals or purchases.
How to read weekly streaming lists
- Check the country. The availability above applies to the United States only.
- Check the date. Catalog rights can change within days, especially for licensed films.
- Check the access label. “Streaming,” “included,” “rental,” and “purchase” are not interchangeable.
- Check for add-ons. A title may appear inside an app but require a separate premium channel subscription.
- Confirm on the official service page. Aggregators are useful for comparison, but provider pages are the better final check for current carriage and access.
For this week’s two featured films, the practical answer is simple: watch Cuckoo with Hulu or rent it digitally, and watch Challengers with Peacock or rent it digitally. Just do not mistake their current availability for a verified new-release debut during August 10–16, 2026.
