You Can See Everything is the current favorite in the live Best Documentary Feature winner market, but NAZA remains a serious threat—especially in the nomination race. As of October 26, 2026, Kalshi priced You Can See Everything at 77% to win and NAZA at 19%. A separate Polymarket nomination snapshot put both films at 85%, while Next Best Picture’s 3,542-user community ranking placed You Can See Everything first and NAZA second. The apparent contradiction is real: these are different markets measuring different outcomes, and none is a reliable forecast of the March 2027 result.

What are the current Best Documentary Oscar odds?

The clearest reading is that You Can See Everything leads on winning the category, while NAZA is effectively level with it on nomination probability in the cited market snapshot. IMDb’s October 19 summary of Gold Derby odds nevertheless called NAZA the early front-runner, showing how much the answer changes with the forecast source and timing.

Why does NAZA have a strong Oscar case?

Its directors bring recent Academy credibility

NAZA is directed by Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor, who were among the directors of No Other Land, the 2025 Oscar-winning documentary. That pedigree gives the film an immediate reference point with voters who responded to their earlier work.

Venice supplies a major festival platform

Associated Press reported that NAZA entered the Venice main competition as the only documentary competing for the Golden Lion. A main-competition slot does not guarantee an Oscar nomination, but it gives the film high-profile festival positioning and a serious art-film frame rather than treating it as a niche release.

The film is likely to provoke argument

The Atlantic’s review described NAZA as an Israeli documentary assembled from interviews with military personnel and criticized its lack of corroboration and identifying detail. Those are the reviewer’s judgments about the film’s reporting and presentation, not an independent finding that its allegations are true or false. For awards voters, that contested reception can be either a liability or a reason to regard the film as urgent and consequential.

Why is You Can See Everything leading the winner market?

It broke out commercially before nominations

You Can See Everything is an A24 documentary directed by Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim. TheWrap reported that it premiered as a secret Telluride screening on September 6 and opened to $15 million in its first weekend, which the publication described as the top-grossing documentary opening in 13 years. A breakout theatrical launch expands awareness beyond the usual documentary audience and gives a distributor a visible campaign platform.

Its subject has unusually broad recognition

Kalshi’s October 19 editorial says the film follows Fielder and Oppenheim as they try to understand Elizabeth Holmes, the Theranos founder serving a sentence of more than 11 years for defrauding investors. Holmes is already a widely known business and criminal-justice figure, so the film enters the race with a subject many voters and viewers can identify immediately.

Buzz extends beyond the documentary category

The film’s unusual popularity has prompted Best Picture discussion. That is attention-getting, but it must be kept in perspective: TheWrap notes that no documentary has ever been nominated for Best Picture. The crossover conversation is therefore unprecedented rather than evidence of a normal path from documentary-category favorite to Best Picture nominee.

Could You Can See Everything be too unconventional for the Documentary Branch?

Yes. The same formal choices that make the film a cultural talking point may divide the branch that decides the documentary nominees.

TheWrap’s Steve Pond has argued that documentary voters can be wary of films that aim overtly to entertain. You Can See Everything uses a playful, self-reflexive approach, re-enactments and an unreliable point of view—elements that may excite general audiences while making some voters question its documentary conventions or evidentiary posture. Pond’s response, “Who the hell knows?”, captures the uncertainty; it is commentary, not a probability.

TheWrap also reported that American-made documentaries were a minority of nominees in five of the last seven years. That pattern does not rule out an American film, but it is a useful counterweight to the assumption that domestic box office automatically translates into branch support.

How should you compare NAZA and You Can See Everything?

Use four separate tests instead of averaging every signal into one invented score.

Where can you watch NAZA?

NAZA’s film site says it entered cinemas in 56 territories from September 2026 and is planned to stream free worldwide on The Guardian’s website after the cinema run, in late November 2026. Rotten Tomatoes lists the film as in theaters with ticket-purchase links.

HomeCinemaAdvisor lists no physical-release date and no current U.S. streaming, rental or purchase offer. Availability can differ by territory, so a local cinema listing is the most reliable option during the theatrical window.

What could change the race before the 2027 Oscars?

The biggest swing factors are not hidden in a single percentage. Watch whether You Can See Everything converts its opening-weekend attention into sustained branch conversation without losing voters over its form, and whether NAZA turns Venice prestige and its directors’ previous win into a campaign that answers concerns about corroboration and identification.

Also watch the distinction between nomination and winner pricing. A film can be highly likely to appear on the final five-film ballot yet less likely to win once voters compare it with the other nominees. That is why the current evidence supports a two-part forecast: You Can See Everything is the market favorite to win today, while NAZA remains fully credible as a nominee and potential upset.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does a Venice Golden Lion berth guarantee an Oscar nomination for NAZA?

No. Main-competition selection is a festival credential, not an Academy vote. It can improve visibility and critical positioning, but the documentary branch still evaluates the film alongside the full eligible field.

What does an 85% nomination probability mean in the cited Polymarket snapshot?

It refers to making the Best Documentary Feature nomination lineup, not winning the Oscar. The same percentage for both films therefore says they were priced as equally likely nominees at that moment, even though Kalshi’s separate winner contract strongly favored You Can See Everything.

Why can box office matter for a documentary Oscar campaign?

A large opening can increase the number of people who see and discuss a film, giving its distributor more publicity and screening opportunities. It does not show that Academy voters prefer the film, and it cannot by itself overcome concerns about form or evidence.

Is NAZA available to stream in the United States now?

The currently listed information does not show a U.S. streaming, rental or purchase option, and no physical release date is listed. The announced next home-viewing route is a planned free worldwide stream on The Guardian’s website after the cinema run in late November 2026.
