The 157th running took place at Saratoga Race Course in Saratoga Springs, New York, and aired on FOX—not NBC. FOX’s coverage began at 4 p.m. ET. Because the advertised race times varied, viewers were best served by starting the broadcast at 4 p.m.
This is now an archival viewing guide. For the completed race, the easiest option is the FOX Sports full-race replay.

Which channel showed the 2025 Belmont Stakes?
The Belmont Stakes was broadcast on FOX. FOX’s main Belmont Day coverage began at 4 p.m. ET, with additional horse-racing programming carried across FOX Sports platforms, including FS1 and FS2.
#1 Best Overall
This was not an NBC or Peacock broadcast. Viewers accustomed to NBC’s historic Belmont coverage could easily search the wrong network, but the 2025 event belonged to FOX. FOX described its coverage in its official programming announcement.
What time was the Belmont Stakes?
The safest instruction was to begin watching at 4 p.m. ET, rather than relying on a single listed post time. FOX’s published materials were not consistent:
| Event | Time |
|---|---|
| FOX coverage began | 4 p.m. ET |
| One advertised television window | 6:30 p.m. ET |
| Approximate post time in another FOX guide | 7:04 p.m. ET |
| Approximate actual race start | 6:50 p.m. ET |
The 6:30 p.m. listing was a scheduled television time, while the 7:04 p.m. figure appeared as an approximate post time in another event guide. The race itself began at approximately 6:50 p.m. ET, according to NBC Sports’ race report. Race-day schedules can move, so starting with the full FOX coverage was the reliable choice.
Coverage-start conversions
The 4 p.m. ET FOX start converted to:
| Time zone | FOX coverage began |
|---|---|
| Eastern | 4 p.m. |
| Central | 3 p.m. |
| Mountain | 2 p.m. |
| Pacific | 1 p.m. |
| Alaska | 12 p.m. |
| Hawaii | 10 a.m. |
These are conversions of the broadcast start, not claims that the race itself began at those times.

How viewers watched in the United States
1. Local FOX broadcast
If your household received a local FOX affiliate through an antenna, cable package, or satellite subscription, the simplest route was to tune in to FOX by 4 p.m. ET. Over-the-air reception depended on the local affiliate, antenna placement, and signal conditions.
2. FOX Sports app or FOXSports.com
The FOX Sports event guide directed viewers to the FOX Sports app and FOXSports.com for streaming. The app could be downloaded without necessarily paying for the app itself, but live access generally required authentication through a participating television provider.
- Open the FOX Sports app or visit FOXSports.com.
- Select the live FOX Sports stream or Belmont Stakes coverage.
- Choose the sign-in option.
- Authenticate with credentials from an eligible cable, satellite, or live-TV provider.
- Start early enough to resolve login or provider-access problems before the race window.
Access could depend on the viewer’s location and whether the provider carried the relevant FOX service.
3. Live-TV streaming services
Cord-cutters could use a live-TV service only if it carried their local FOX affiliate. Possible services included YouTube TV, Hulu + Live TV, Fubo, Sling TV in eligible markets, and DIRECTV STREAM.

Availability varied by ZIP code. Before signing up, viewers needed to use the provider’s local-channel lookup and confirm that the lineup included FOX itself—not merely FS1 or another sports network. Pricing, free-trial terms, regional coverage, and cancellation rules were subject to change.
Could you watch the Belmont Stakes outside the United States?
International availability was territory-specific and was not established by the U.S. FOX information. Outside the United States, viewers needed to check the official horse-racing broadcaster or sports network in their country. U.S. FOX authentication might not work abroad.
A VPN was not a guaranteed solution: it could fail location checks, conflict with a service’s terms, and would not create a valid subscription or broadcast right.
Why was the race held at Saratoga?
The 2025 Belmont Stakes was held at Saratoga Race Course because Belmont Park was undergoing renovation. Saratoga Race Course is also in New York, but it is not the traditional Belmont Park venue.

Who ran in the 2025 Belmont Stakes?
The eight-horse field listed in FOX’s event guide was:
- Hill Road
- Sovereignty
- Rodriguez
- Uncaged
- Crudo
- Baeza
- Journalism
- Heart of Honor
The race was a rematch between Kentucky Derby winner Sovereignty and Journalism. It was not, however, a live Triple Crown sweep-clinching race: Sovereignty did not run in the Preakness Stakes.
2025 result and replay
Sovereignty won the Belmont Stakes, defeating Journalism. Junior Alvarado was the winning jockey, and the field consisted of eight horses.
You can watch the completed race through the FOX Sports full-race video on YouTube. For a historical event, replay access is more appropriate than purchasing a new live-TV package solely for this race.

FOX One should not be listed as a way to watch the live June 7, 2025 Belmont Stakes. Fox launched FOX One on August 21, 2025, after the race had already taken place. It is therefore relevant only as a later FOX streaming product.
Fox announced launch-period pricing of $19.99 per month or $199.99 per year in August 2025, but those figures should not be treated as current pricing. Check the official FOX page for current availability and rates. A viewer seeking only the archived Belmont Stakes should use the available replay rather than subscribe solely for the completed event.
Quick Recap
Common mistakes to avoid
- Searching NBC or Peacock: the 2025 Belmont Stakes aired on FOX.
- Waiting until 6:30 or 7:04 p.m. ET: listings differed, and the actual start was approximately 6:50 p.m. ET. FOX coverage began at 4 p.m.
- Assuming FS1 guarantees access: the main broadcast was on FOX, and local FOX carriage mattered.
- Assuming every streaming service carries FOX: local availability varies by ZIP code.
- Treating FOX One as a 2025 option: it launched after the Belmont Stakes.
- Calling the event a Triple Crown decider: there was no active sweep attempt because Sovereignty skipped the Preakness.
- Assuming U.S. streaming works internationally: local rights and authentication rules differ by territory.
