Yes, some viewers report freezing, buffering, black screens and crashes—but that does not prove a platform-wide outage. The former Bally Sports streaming service is now FanDuel Sports Network. Start by installing or updating the current app, then isolate the cause: device software, Wi-Fi, location or blackout rules, subscription syncing, or registered-device limits.
Your existing Bally Sports streaming credentials are expected to continue working. A FanDuel betting account is separate and is not required for streaming access. FanDuel’s FAQ explains the rebrand and account distinction.
First, make sure you have the right app
Search your device’s app store for FanDuel Sports Network. Bally Sports branding may remain when an update failed or an old installation is still present. Update the app; if it still shows Bally Sports or behaves erratically, delete it, restart the device and install the current FanDuel Sports Network app. Your streaming login should remain valid after the change.
The Bally regional sports networks continue under the FanDuel name; the rebrand did not eliminate the service. Do not create a new FanDuel betting account to solve a streaming problem.

The five-minute fix
- Confirm the app: install or update FanDuel Sports Network, not an obsolete Bally Sports installation.
- Close it completely: remove it from the device’s recent-apps list, wait several seconds and reopen it.
- Restart the device: reboot your phone, tablet, streaming stick, TV or computer.
- Update software: install the latest app and operating-system or device-firmware updates.
- Reinstall: use this step if the old logo remains, the app crashes at launch or playback repeatedly fails.
Reinstallation can erase locally stored sign-in information. Have your streaming credentials ready.
“Freezing” can mean several different failures
- Buffering: the picture pauses while menus still respond.
- Frozen video: the image stops while audio continues.
- Crash: the app closes and returns to the home screen.
- Black screen: playback area is blank, sometimes with audio.
- Restart loop: the stream repeatedly reloads.
- Playback failure: the game loads but never starts.
- Location message: “out of area,” location or blank-screen errors appear.
A location restriction, blackout or account limit can look like a broken player. Reinstalling will not make an unavailable game appear.
Fixes by device
iPhone and iPad
- Close and reopen the FanDuel Sports Network app.
- Update it in the App Store.
- Restart the device and install any available iOS or iPadOS update.
- Reinstall the app if the problem persists, then sign in again.
Close other demanding apps and move closer to your Wi-Fi router. If the same stream works in a browser or on another device, the fault is probably specific to the app or device.

Android phones and tablets
FanDuel recommends closing other apps, improving the wireless signal, fully closing the app, waiting several seconds and reopening it. Google’s general Android sequence is:
- Restart the phone or tablet.
- Install Android system updates.
- Open Google Play Store, tap your profile icon, choose Manage apps & devices and update FanDuel Sports Network.
- In Settings, force-stop the app and clear its cache. Menu names vary by manufacturer and Android version.
- Clear app data or uninstall and reinstall only if necessary; either action may require a fresh login.
Google’s Android troubleshooting guide
Roku
Check the connection at Home → Settings → Network → About. Roku reports signal quality such as Poor, Fair, Good or Excellent. Improve Wi-Fi coverage, update or reinstall the FanDuel channel, then restart the Roku. Test another streaming app to determine whether the issue is Roku-wide or FanDuel-specific.
Amazon Fire TV and Fire TV Stick
For choppy playback, remove and reinstall the app. Keep Fire TV firmware current and close or remove unnecessary apps that may be consuming device resources.

Apple TV, Android TV, Chromecast, smart TVs, Xbox and Xumo
FanDuel lists support for Apple TV running tvOS 16 or later, Android TV OS 5.0 or later, Chromecast version 2 or later, Fire TV OS 5.0 or later, Roku OS 12.0 or later, selected Samsung TVs from 2019 onward, selected Vizio and onn TVs, Xbox One and Xbox Series S/X, and Xumo Stream Box. Compatibility varies by model, region and app-store availability; a brand name alone does not guarantee support.
Check the current supported-device list.
When the real problem is your network
Bandwidth is only one part of streaming. A fast plan cannot prevent a weak Wi-Fi signal, packet loss, latency, household congestion or an older streaming stick from struggling.
- Play another live-streaming service. If it also buffers, investigate the network first.
- Pause large downloads, cloud backups and other high-bandwidth activity.
- Restart both router and streaming device.
- Try Ethernet where practical.
- Compare Wi-Fi with a phone on cellular data, remembering that live video can use substantial data.
- Test the same FanDuel program in a browser or on another device.
If every FanDuel device fails while other services work, a temporary delivery problem is possible. That pattern is not proof of an outage; check official support rather than relying on isolated social-media complaints.

Location, blackout and “out of area” errors
FanDuel Sports Network availability follows regional rights and the viewer’s home territory. A game may be unavailable in your ZIP code, nationally televised or subject to a league blackout even when the app itself is functioning.
- Turn off VPNs and other location-masking tools.
- Enable location services where your device requires them.
- Restart the device and router.
- In the app, open Account → Account Details → Refresh Location, if that option appears.
- Check the detected location and contact support if it is wrong.
A VPN is not a legitimate blackout workaround and can interfere with verification or violate service terms. Travelers may have temporary access outside their home territory under the service’s current rules, but rights restrictions still apply.

Remove stale devices
FanDuel’s current help information says an account can have up to five registered devices and generally stream on up to two devices at once. Limits can change or vary for particular content. Devices register when you sign in and begin streaming.

Open Account → Manage Devices, remove unused devices (or use Remove All), stop playback elsewhere and try again.
Restore a platform-billed subscription
If a subscription purchased through Apple, Google or another platform is missing after reinstalling:
- Sign in at FanDuelSportsNetwork.com.
- Open Settings → Subscriptions.
- Select Restore Purchase and follow the prompts.
Direct subscriptions, TV-provider authentication and app-store billing are different access paths. The company that billed you is usually the correct place to ask about refunds or billing errors.

Before concluding that the service is down
- Try the web player or a second supported device.
- Check whether other streaming services work.
- Determine whether the failure affects one game, one device or every title.
- Look for an official notice or contact FanDuel support.
There are recurring user reports of freezing, black screens and crashes, but those anecdotes do not confirm a current platform-wide outage. If you contact support, provide the game and team, exact time, device and operating-system version, app version, error text, your ZIP code, and whether another device or service worked.
If the game is about to start
- Try the supported web player.
- Switch to a supported phone or tablet.
- Use another supported Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, Android TV, Chromecast, Xbox or Xumo device.
- Authenticate with an eligible cable, satellite or live-TV provider if you have one.
These fallbacks cannot override a blackout, unavailable ZIP code or account restriction.
When to contact FanDuel Sports Network
Contact official support through the service’s chat or email options when the app is current, your network works elsewhere, location is correct and the issue follows your account across devices. Include the diagnostic information above and say whether you are using a direct subscription or a TV-provider login. Support hours can change, so check the live help page rather than relying on an old listing.
