Use the least-invasive sequence below: check the live status page, compare several videos and creators, then test a clean browser session, extensions, site data, playback settings, DRM and another network. The result of each test narrows the cause without weakening account security.
- Check OnlyFans service status.
- Test an older post, a recent post, another creator and a preview or direct-message video.
- Reload, then sign out and back in.
- Use a normal browser window and a current alternative browser.
- Temporarily disable extensions and content blockers.
- Clear onlyfans.com site data and cache.
- Check JavaScript, cookies, autoplay and privacy exceptions.
- Verify protected-content and DRM playback.
- Switch networks and turn off VPN or proxy filtering.
1. Check whether OnlyFans has a partial outage
Open the official OnlyFans status page and look at the individual components, including Media, Website, Login, Transactions and Infrastructure. A media incident can leave the homepage and login working while videos fail.
An outage is more likely when multiple videos fail in different browsers and devices, other users report the same symptom, and the status page lists a media or infrastructure incident. Status pages can lag behind a new incident or show operational status during a regional or account-specific problem, so treat the page as a current signal, not proof that your particular account is healthy.
During a confirmed incident, wait and retry later. Avoid repeatedly changing account settings or purchasing a third-party “fix.”

2. Find out whether one post or creator is affected
Play one older video, one recent video, a video from another subscribed creator, a free preview if available, and a video in direct messages. This comparison is often more useful than changing settings immediately.

3. Refresh and authenticate again
- Reload the page and close the video tab.
- Close the browser completely, reopen it and try again.
- Sign out of OnlyFans.
- Close and reopen the browser once more, then sign in using your normal method.
- Test the same video and a different post.
This sequence can clear a stale session or expired authorization used for a media request; it is not a guaranteed repair. If the message says content is locked, purchase required or unavailable, verify your subscription or purchase instead of treating it as a player fault.
4. Compare a normal window and another current browser
Start in a regular, non-private window. Incognito or private mode can change cookies, storage, extensions and protected-media behavior, so it is useful as a comparison rather than a permanent solution. Then test a current version of Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge or Safari on Apple devices. No browser is universally best; operating system, device, privacy settings and media components matter.

5. Temporarily disable extensions and content blockers
Ad blockers, tracker and script blockers, privacy shields, antivirus web extensions, video-enhancement tools and download extensions can alter page scripts or media requests. Disable one extension at a time, test playback, and restore it if it is not responsible.
In Chrome, extension management is available at chrome://extensions. A Chrome Community troubleshooting example recommends comparing Incognito mode and disabling extensions, especially ad or privacy blockers: Chrome Community thread. If one extension is the cause, prefer an OnlyFans-specific exception only if you accept the privacy and security trade-off. Do not leave security tools disabled globally.
6. Clear OnlyFans site data and cache
Remove data for onlyfans.com rather than immediately erasing every saved login and browsing record. Browser labels vary, but the controls are usually under Site settings, Cookies or Privacy.
- Open the browser’s site-data or privacy settings.
- Search for
onlyfans.com. - Remove its cookies and stored site data; clear cached files too if the browser separates that option.
- Close and reopen the browser.
- Sign in again and test playback.
Clearing site data can sign you out, reset permissions and remove stale or damaged cached files. Make sure you can access the correct login method first. Mozilla lists cache removal and extension checks among standard fixes for video that will not play.

7. Check JavaScript, cookies, autoplay and privacy controls
Confirm that JavaScript is enabled, cookies are accepted for OnlyFans, autoplay is allowed where required, and content filters are not blocking the player or its media requests. Brave Shields, Firefox Enhanced Tracking Protection, Safari tracking prevention, antivirus shields and DNS filters may interfere with scripts or authenticated media.
Use a site-specific exception instead of enabling third-party cookies or weakening tracking protection everywhere. 8. Verify protected-content and DRM playback
A black player, “format not supported” message or audio without picture can involve protected-media components, codecs or hardware acceleration rather than the uploaded file. Do not disable DRM or protected-content support as a fix.
Firefox
Check that DRM-controlled content is permitted, autoplay is not blocked and the browser is current. Mozilla’s guide includes dedicated DRM and autoplay checks: Mozilla troubleshooting. Current Widevine support on Firefox requires 64-bit Linux for Linux users.

Edge
Microsoft documents protected-content, codec, hardware-acceleration and autoplay failures, including a missing or invalid Widevine module. Inspect the component at edge://components and use Edge’s reset page, edge://settings/reset, only after less-invasive tests. See Microsoft Edge video playback troubleshooting.
Update the browser and operating system. Close screen-recording, display-mirroring, remote-desktop and virtual-display tools while testing; these can affect protected playback on some systems, but are not a universal OnlyFans cause. If DRM fails in every browser on one device, test another device before changing security protections.

Compare home Wi-Fi with cellular data or a phone hotspot, and avoid corporate, school, hotel or public Wi-Fi for the test. Temporarily disable a VPN and proxy. A network can allow the main site while filtering media or content-delivery requests; this is a plausible network failure, not a confirmed description of OnlyFans’ architecture.
- Works on mobile data but not Wi-Fi: investigate the router, DNS, firewall, ISP or network filter.
- Works with VPN off: the VPN’s exit IP, DNS, security filter or routing may be responsible.
- Works only with a VPN: the original network may be filtering access; follow the network owner’s rules and applicable law rather than using a VPN to defeat restrictions.
- Fails everywhere: return to account, device, browser or platform diagnosis.

When to contact OnlyFans support
After testing two browsers, two devices or two networks where available, stop endlessly changing settings. Use the official Help Center at onlyfans.com/help. Include:
- Username or account email, without sending your password.
- The exact error text and whether the player spins, stays black or plays audio only.
- Whether one post, one creator or all videos fail.
- Browser name and version, operating system and device.
- Results from another browser, device and network.
- Approximate start time and a screenshot with payment details and private messages redacted.
If only a newly posted video fails while other content works, the creator or OnlyFans may need to reprocess or re-upload it; a subscriber cannot repair a server-side upload or entitlement problem locally.
Avoid unsafe “fixes”
- Do not disable DRM or protected-content security.
- Do not install unofficial downloaders, players or repair utilities.
- Do not give credentials or payment details to social-media accounts claiming to be support.
- Do not permanently disable privacy or antivirus protections to make one site work.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why do OnlyFans videos work in one browser but not another?
The browsers may differ in extensions, cookies, privacy rules, codecs, hardware acceleration or protected-media components. Compare a normal window, disable extensions temporarily and check the failing browser’s playback settings.
Should I use a VPN if videos will not load?
No. Test with the VPN off first. VPN routing, shared IP reputation, DNS filtering, speed and regional rules can cause playback or login problems; use one only for lawful, authorized network access.
Should I disable DRM?
No. Ensure supported protected-content playback is enabled. Disabling it can prevent protected media from playing and weakens security.
Can clearing cookies fix playback?
It can clear stale sessions or damaged site data, but it signs you out and is not guaranteed. Remove only OnlyFans site data first, then sign in again.
