These are the most useful starting points for viewers who want a substantial on-demand catalog.
1. Crunchyroll — Best overall
Crunchyroll is the strongest all-purpose anime service for most viewers. Its catalog combines currently airing simulcasts, older series, movies, subtitles, English dubs, and anime-related extras. It is usually the first service to check for a new Japanese series.

The standard Premium trial is normally seven days, requires a valid payment method, and renews automatically unless canceled. Crunchyroll also operates a separate free 24/7 channel; that channel is not the same as the full on-demand Premium service.
2. HIDIVE — Best companion to Crunchyroll
HIDIVE is especially useful for titles that are not on Crunchyroll, selected simulcasts, mature or uncensored releases, and some English dubs. It is best treated as a second specialist service rather than a complete replacement for Crunchyroll.
Catalog size and even service availability vary by country. Check HIDIVE’s current restricted-region list before paying.
3. Netflix — Best for exclusives
Netflix is a strong choice for Netflix anime originals, exclusive releases, and viewers who also want live-action movies and series under one subscription. Its anime catalog includes both original productions and licensed shows.

4. Hulu — Best U.S. general-purpose option

Hulu can be particularly convenient for households that already subscribe for television rather than anime alone. Dubbed and subtitled versions may appear as separate listings instead of as an audio switch inside one video.
5. Disney+ — Best for selected exclusives
Disney+ is not a dedicated anime platform, but it is worth checking for exclusive or region-specific anime acquired through Disney’s international licensing arrangements. In the United States, eligible Disney bundles can also make Hulu content available inside the Disney+ app.

6. Prime Video — Best for mixed access
Prime Video carries anime included with Prime, along with titles available to rent or buy. In some markets it also offers anime-focused add-on channels, including Crunchyroll and other regional services.
Pay attention to the label on each title: “included,” “rent,” “buy,” and “subscribe” represent different costs. The anime catalog changes substantially between countries.
7. Max — Best for selected licensed titles
Max is a secondary anime option, with selected films and series licensed through Warner Bros. Discovery. It can be worthwhile if you already subscribe for Max’s broader film and television library, but it is not a substitute for an anime specialist.

8. Peacock — Best for a smaller mainstream catalog
Peacock has a more limited anime selection, but its collection includes recognizable titles such as Naruto, Hunter x Hunter, Death Note, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, Vampire Knight, and Bakuman. It is most useful when a desired title is already part of your Peacock subscription.

9. Tubi

The Pokémon Company periodically posts full episodes, movies, and specials free on its official YouTube channel. Uploads and viewing windows depend on regional rights and may be temporary. Use the verified channel rather than a random account claiming to host complete episodes.
Official anime channels on YouTube
YouTube can be a legitimate anime source when the channel belongs to the rights holder, publisher, studio, or authorized distributor. A search result labeled “full episode” is not proof that an upload is licensed.
15. Muse Asia
Muse Asia is an official Muse Communication channel offering licensed episodes, highlights, and seasonal anime in selected Asian territories. Most videos are geo-blocked outside the countries covered by the relevant license.
16. Ani-One Asia

17. GUNDAM CHANNEL INTL
Bandai Namco’s international Gundam channel offers selected full episodes, films, trailers, and special content. Availability may be limited by territory or by a viewing window, making it worth checking the channel’s current playlists rather than relying on an old recommendation.
18. Official publisher and distributor channels
Japanese publishers, studios, and distributors regularly use verified YouTube channels for premieres, complete episodes, films, and promotional specials. Search for the rights holder or an established distributor, check the channel verification and description, and avoid assuming that an unofficial mirror is authorized.
Asian and regional anime services
These platforms can be excellent in their intended markets. They are not automatically practical for viewers elsewhere, since payment systems, subtitles, app access, and licensing are often country-specific.

19. Bilibili
Bilibili is a major anime and Asian-video platform in selected Asian markets. It offers a mixture of free ad-supported and premium programming, with the available catalog determined by country and licensing agreements.
20. iQIYI Anime
iQIYI carries Chinese animation, Japanese anime, and other Asian animated programming. Some titles are free with ads, while others require VIP access. Subtitle, dub, and regional availability vary by title.
21. Viki
Viki is mainly a Korean, Chinese, Japanese, and broader Asian-TV service. It occasionally carries anime or animated Asian productions, making it more appropriate for viewers interested in Asian entertainment generally than for people seeking a deep seasonal Japanese-anime catalog.
22. ADN — Animation Digital Network
ADN is a major French-language anime service serving France and other supported European territories. It offers French subtitles and dubs, simulcasts, downloads, and multiple subscription tiers.
ADN’s current Starter plan provides the full catalog at reduced video quality with limited profile features, while Premium adds HD and other features. Check the service’s French-language plan page for current pricing and territory details.

U-NEXT is one of Japan’s largest subscription video services, combining a substantial anime selection with current-season releases, films, manga, and other Japanese entertainment. It is principally designed for the Japanese market and may require a Japan-based account or payment method.
24. d Anime Store
d Anime Store specializes in current and older anime for the Japanese market, often with same-day or early streaming arrangements for Japanese releases. It is generally not a practical replacement for U.S.-focused services because access and payment are Japan-oriented.
25. ABEMA
ABEMA is a Japanese streaming and live-channel service with free, ad-supported, scheduled anime and premium ABEMA Premium programming. Region restrictions are common, and the free or premium status of a title can differ by program.
26. DMM TV
DMM TV offers a large anime catalog and current-season programming in Japan. DMM stated that the service had more than 6,300 titles as of January 2026, although catalog counts and counting methods can change.

Three checks before subscribing
- Search the exact title. Do not subscribe based only on a service’s anime category. Licensing is negotiated title by title and can vary between seasons, films, and specials.
- Confirm your country. A show may appear in a global catalog, press release, or search result but be blocked where you live. This is especially common with HIDIVE, ADN, Muse Asia, Ani-One Asia, ABEMA, U-NEXT, d Anime Store, and DMM TV.
- Check the audio and payment status. A listing may be subtitled only, offer a separate dubbed version, require a premium plan, or charge a rental fee. Prime Video is a particularly clear example because included, rental, purchase, and add-on-channel titles appear together.
What happened to Funimation?
Funimation is no longer a current anime streaming site. Its website and app officially shut down on April 2, 2024. Anime recommendations that still present Funimation as an active standalone service are outdated; viewers should check Crunchyroll and other current license holders instead.
