The titles were marketed toward Indian audiences, including Hindi-speaking viewers, but Netflix did not describe every production as exclusively Hindi-language. This retrospective preserves the original list while separating the six titles already released by the article’s October 7, 2020 update from projects that arrived later.
The slate came from Netflix’s official announcement, which combined six newly announced films, two newly announced series, six films already in the pipeline and three series already in the pipeline: Netflix’s 17-title announcement.

Honey Trehan’s crime mystery follows a small-town police officer investigating the killing of a local political figure during a wedding. Its tightly contained investigation and family secrets made it one of the slate’s principal Hindi crime dramas.

Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl
This dramatized biographical film follows Gunjan Saxena’s route to becoming an Indian Air Force pilot who flew during the 1999 Kargil conflict. Netflix announced its premiere for August 12, 2020 in its release notice: Netflix announcement. “Inspired by true events” is more precise than treating every scene as documentary fact.
Class of ’83
A sidelined police officer trains a group of cadets while facing institutional corruption and the criminal underworld. Netflix announced its release for August 21, 2020: official announcement.
Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare
Two cousins negotiate employment, sexuality, romance, class and personal autonomy in contemporary urban India. It is a social drama rather than a conventional romance.

AK vs AK

How Netflix described the slate’s 2020 impact
Netflix’s year-end India recap named Raat Akeli Hai a popular thriller, Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl its most popular drama film, Ludo its most popular comedy film, and highlighted Ginny Weds Sunny, Mismatched, Masaba Masaba and Serious Men among popular titles: Netflix’s 2020 recap. These are Netflix’s own category descriptions, not independently audited rankings.
What “Hindi” and “Netflix original” mean here
The 17-title label is best understood as Hindi and Hindi-market Indian entertainment, not proof that every production is exclusively in Hindi. Netflix’s August 2020 Hindi-interface announcement covered navigation, search rows, collections, signup and payments in Hindi: Netflix Hindi-interface announcement. Interface language, audio tracks, subtitles and a production’s original language are separate things.
Netflix called the slate “originals,” while outside partners including Red Chillies Entertainment, Dharma Productions, Zee Studios, RSVP Movies and EndemolShine India were involved. “Netflix original” therefore describes Netflix’s branding or distribution position in the relevant territory; it does not automatically prove that Netflix alone produced, financed or owns every title.
Where to watch
Netflix is the relevant official service, but catalogs, language options and rights vary by country. Check the title page or Netflix signup for your territory. Do not assume that availability in India, including the exception noted for A Suitable Boy, applies worldwide. Historical pricing such as the ₹199 India mobile plan mentioned in 2020 should not be used as a current price.
