PRISM Live Studio Mobile supports using a video from your phone’s photo gallery or a video playlist in My Studio as part of a YouTube live setup. The official guide confirms those capabilities, but does not document the current tap-by-tap playback sequence, supported file formats, or duration limits. Use the workflow below as a supported route, then check the controls and playback in your current app before going live.
Choose a single video or a video playlist
PRISM documents two relevant playback options: add a video media item retrieved from your phone’s photo gallery to My Studio, or create and add a video playlist. Choose one video when you need to present a single recording; choose a playlist when you want to arrange multiple videos. The documentation does not establish whether either option loops, how transitions work, or which file formats and durations are supported, so confirm those details in the app before relying on them.
Prepare the video and add it in PRISM
- Make the recording available on your phone. Place the video in the device’s photo gallery, which PRISM’s guide identifies as a source for media added to My Studio.
- Open My Studio in PRISM Live Studio Mobile. Add the gallery video as media, or create/select a video playlist. The official guide confirms these capabilities but does not specify the current sequence of taps; labels and controls may vary by app version and operating system.
- Use only one playback feature type. PRISM lists video, music, music playlist, video playlist, and image playlist as playback features that cannot be combined. Keep the setup to one of these playback sources at a time.
Set up the YouTube live stream
- Choose a live mode and enter the stream details. PRISM’s general preparation flow is to choose a mode, enter stream details and settings, then start with Go Live. Check the current preview to confirm that the intended video and audio are present before starting; this is a prudent check, not a playback control documented in the guide.
- If you need a scheduled stream, create it in YouTube Live Dashboard using “Streaming software.” Then select the scheduled stream in PRISM. Do not create it with YouTube’s “Webcam” workflow: PRISM says scheduled Webcam streams are unsupported when starting the stream through the app.
- Start the broadcast from PRISM. Once the selected source and stream details are correct, use the app’s Go Live control.
Check rights before broadcasting
Use video and audio that you own or are authorized to stream live. YouTube says, “All live streams are scanned for matches to third-party content, including copyrighted content in the form of another live broadcast.” If YouTube detects a match, it may replace the stream with a placeholder and warn you to stop using the material; continued use can lead to a temporary interruption or termination. A license alone may not prevent an interruption: YouTube advises that the rights holder add your channel to its Content ID allowlist.
Troubleshoot a stream that will not start
- A scheduled stream is unavailable in PRISM: Check whether it was created with YouTube’s Streaming software setup. A scheduled stream created through the Webcam workflow is not supported by PRISM.
- YouTube will not let the channel go live: Check live-stream eligibility and status in YouTube’s dashboard before assuming the phone is at fault. PRISM’s troubleshooting guidance describes cases involving a wait after channel verification and a subscriber restriction on third-party stream creation through YouTube’s API; these conditions can change, so verify the current requirements in YouTube and your channel dashboard.
- The video or playlist option is unavailable alongside another playback source: Remove the other playback feature. PRISM’s source guidance allows only one playback feature type at a time.
- The stream is interrupted after it starts: Check YouTube’s live dashboard and any copyright notices. A third-party content match can interrupt a stream even when the creator says the material is licensed, unless the rights holder has allowlisted the channel through Content ID.
