Yes. You can send several prerecorded educational videos to YouTube Live in sequence through an encoder or a compatible cloud service that supports playlist playback. YouTube’s encoder guidance names both a hardware option and a cloud 24/7 streaming service, but does not establish that YouTube Studio has a universal built-in scheduler for rotating uploaded videos. Choose a system that explicitly supports your playlist, test its transitions and recovery, and confirm you have the rights to broadcast every video and audio element.
How a prerecorded-video live stream works
An encoder or streaming service plays or composes the recordings and sends that output to YouTube Live. YouTube receives it as a live feed; it does not follow that the recordings are being scheduled by YouTube Studio itself. The specific playlist, looping, transition, and recovery capabilities depend on the encoder or service you choose.
YouTube’s encoder guide describes the AJA HELO Plus with optional PlayToStream functionality for scheduling prerecorded media and streaming it directly to YouTube Live without a computer. The guide also names Gyre as a cloud-based tool for 24/7 streaming of prerecorded videos. These are examples, not endorsements or proof of their current plans, limits, or uptime. Check with each provider that its current configuration supports your intended playlist and operating needs. YouTube’s encoder guide explains the encoder workflow.
What to check before choosing a setup
- Playlist behavior: Confirm that the system can play multiple files in sequence, loop or schedule them as needed, and handle transitions and the end of the list.
- Failure recovery: Find out what happens after a network interruption, power loss, encoder failure, or unreadable source file. Determine whether playback resumes automatically and how you will be notified.
- Monitoring and archives: Decide who will check audio, picture, and stream availability, and whether you need a local recording. YouTube advises testing failover and monitoring the stream. Its encoder guide says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; do not assume an uninterrupted 24-hour stream will be archived as one complete video. Verify current behavior if an archive matters. See YouTube’s streaming tips.
- Operational cost: Compare hardware and power costs, hosting or service charges, operator time, and the cost of any backup arrangement. The cited YouTube guidance does not provide a comparable price or performance assessment for the named products.
Prepare the channel and clear the rights
Check livestream eligibility
YouTube says a channel must be verified and must not have had live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. First-time livestream activation can take up to 24 hours. Its getting-started guidance also covers age requirements and active-stream limits, so check the current rules for your channel before building the schedule: Get started with live streaming.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Confirm permission for every element
Educational purpose by itself does not grant permission to rebroadcast a lesson, documentary, excerpt, photograph, soundtrack, or other protected material. YouTube’s livestream terms put responsibility on the provider to hold the rights needed to exploit live content worldwide, including music licensing rights. Rights can differ by territory and by the specific recording or track, so check that your permissions cover YouTube livestreaming and any archive you intend to keep. Read YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions.
Set up and test the playlist
- Inventory your media. List every video, image, and audio element in the rotation. Confirm rights for the live broadcast and any resulting archive before uploading or scheduling the content.
- Select a compatible encoder or hosted service. Verify that it explicitly supports sequential prerecorded playback and the looping or scheduling behavior you need. YouTube documents the encoder route and the examples above, but does not prescribe one universal playlist format.
- Create the live stream in YouTube Live Control Room. Configure the stream destination and key in the encoder or service using its instructions. Keep the stream key private; anyone with access to it may be able to send video to your stream.
- Inspect the preview before going public. Check that the correct feed is reaching YouTube and that picture and sound are present. YouTube recommends preparing the encoder, checking bandwidth headroom, and verifying viewer access, including on mobile.
- Test the entire sequence. Check a transition between recordings, the end of the playlist, a restart, and recovery after a network or source failure. These are practical tests based on YouTube’s advice to test failover and monitor; they are not a YouTube-mandated playlist protocol.
- Plan live monitoring. Assign someone to check availability and audio/video, receive alerts, and know how to restart the service. Also decide where a local archive will be stored if you need one.
