Short answer: not yet. Disney is moving Hulu into a unified Disney+ experience during 2026, but Hulu subscriptions remain available, Disney’s support pages still describe Hulu app and website access, and no firm public date has been announced for shutting off the standalone Hulu app. The change is primarily about discovery, profiles and playback—not an immediate cancellation of Hulu plans.
What Disney actually announced
On August 6, 2025, Disney said it was “fully integrating Hulu into Disney+” and working toward a single app covering Disney, Hulu, kids, general entertainment, news and live sports content during 2026. The stated goals include simpler navigation, more personalized recommendations and easier content discovery. Read the announcement in Disney’s earnings-call transcript.

That strategy should not be read as proof that Hulu subscriptions have been canceled or that the standalone app has already stopped working. Disney’s current customer guidance continues to describe Hulu subscriptions and Hulu access through the Hulu app and website.
What is available now
Hulu on Disney+ is not new. A U.S. beta began in December 2023, and the service officially launched for Disney Bundle customers and people holding both standalone services on March 27, 2024. Hulu also became Disney+’s global general-entertainment brand, replacing Star in international markets on October 8, 2025; branding and availability vary by country.

On-demand Hulu viewing
Eligible subscribers can open Disney+, select the Hulu icon in the top navigation, and watch supported on-demand Hulu programs. Hulu titles may also appear on the Disney+ home page, in search, collections and recommendations. Disney says most on-demand Hulu content is available, but not every title.
Profiles and personalization
Eligible Hulu profiles can be linked to Disney+. Depending on account eligibility and rollout, linking can bring over or synchronize watch history, My Stuff or watchlist items, recommendations and Continue Watching information. The linking prompt may not appear for every subscriber at once.
Downloads
Qualifying Premium subscribers can download select Hulu titles in the Disney+ mobile app. Disney currently lists a limit of 25 downloads across five supported mobile devices at a time. Downloads are not supported on TV-connected devices, computers or Windows 10/11 tablets through Disney+; eligible users may still use Hulu’s app for Hulu downloads. Disney’s Hulu access guidance specifically says Live TV-only programming and add-on content remain outside Disney+. This means Disney+ is not yet a complete replacement for Hulu, especially for Hulu + Live TV households.

Does a Hulu subscription include Disney+?
No. An eligible Hulu plan may let you watch supported Hulu programming inside Disney+, but a Hulu-only subscription does not automatically unlock the full Disney+ catalog. Full Disney+ access requires a Disney+ subscription or qualifying bundle. The distinction between a viewing location and a billing entitlement is important: the interfaces may look unified while plan rights remain separate.
What happens to subscriptions and prices?
Disney’s integration announcement does not itself establish a price increase or mandatory plan conversion. Hulu subscriptions remain available, and subscribers can continue managing them through Hulu or their billing provider. Prices, credits and eligibility can differ for third-party and carrier-billed accounts.

See the current Disney+ pricing page before changing anything. Existing subscribers may retain certain legacy plans while they do not cancel or modify them. “Ad-free” plans can still carry advertising in selected live or linear programming.
How to watch Hulu through Disney+
- Install or update Disney+ on a supported device, or visit DisneyPlus.com.
- Sign in with the MyDisney email address associated with your Hulu account.
- Choose the Hulu icon in Disney+ navigation, or open Hulu titles from the home page, search results or recommendations.
- If Disney+ offers profile linking, follow the prompts to connect the eligible Hulu profile.
- Keep the Hulu app installed if you use Live TV, add-ons or titles that do not appear in Disney+.

Troubleshooting common problems
Disney+ cannot find Hulu
- Confirm that both services use the same email address and appropriate MyDisney login.
- Check whether your plan is eligible for Hulu viewing in Disney+.
- Review whether a mobile carrier, app store or other third party handles billing.
- Continue in Hulu for features that Disney+ does not support.
A show or movie is missing
The title may be outside the Disney+ Hulu catalog, subject to rights or device restrictions, or available only in Hulu. Search in Hulu before assuming the program has been removed.
Live channels or add-ons are missing
That is expected under the current guidance: Hulu Live TV and Hulu add-ons still require Hulu.
Downloads fail
Check that the plan is Premium or otherwise download-eligible, that the device is supported, and that the 25-download/five-device limit has not been reached.

Should you cancel Hulu or change plans now?
Keep your current setup when
- You use Hulu + Live TV or Hulu add-ons.
- You depend on a legacy, promotional or carrier-billed price.
- Your Hulu and Disney+ accounts use different email addresses.
- You are satisfied with two apps and do not need the full Disney+ catalog.
Compare a bundle when
- You already pay separately for Hulu and Disney+.
- You want one primary interface and Disney+ access.
- The current bundle price is lower than your separate bills.
- You have confirmed that switching will not remove a valuable legacy rate, credit or promotion.
Do not cancel Hulu merely because its tile appears in Disney+. First verify that your Live TV, add-ons, downloads, saved profiles and required titles work under the proposed setup. Disney’s official bundle sign-up guidance can help compare options.
What remains unknown
As of August 18, 2026, Disney has not published a firm public date for ending standalone Hulu app access in the official material cited here. The final unified interface and migration details may continue changing during 2026, and general help pages do not spell out treatment for every legacy, promotional, carrier-billed or Live TV configuration.
