The announced NCIS spinoff did happen—but it was canceled after one season. NCIS: Tony & Ziva reunited Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo on Paramount+, while Weatherly is now confirmed to return separately to the flagship NCIS for Season 24. Cote de Pablo’s return to the main series has not been announced.
The announced NCIS spinoff did happen—but it is no longer an upcoming series. Officially titled NCIS: Tony & Ziva, the Paramount+ drama reunited Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo as Tony DiNozzo and Ziva David. The 10-episode series premiered on September 4, 2025, and Paramount+ canceled it after one season, according to a December 20, 2025 report from Variety.
There is a separate piece of good news for fans: on July 1, 2026, CBS and Paramount announced that Weatherly will return as Tony DiNozzo for a season-long arc in the flagship NCIS Season 24 during the 2026–2027 season. That announcement does not confirm a matching return for Cote de Pablo in the main CBS series.
What happened to the NCIS spinoff?
Paramount+ announced the project on February 28, 2024, describing it as a 10-episode spinoff starring Weatherly and de Pablo. The announcement was notable because it brought the actors together on screen for the first time in 10 years.

The series eventually received the title NCIS: Tony & Ziva. Rather than remaining a proposal or an unproduced reunion, it was filmed and released as a completed Paramount+ series. It debuted on September 4, 2025.
However, the show’s run ended after that first season. Variety reported on December 20, 2025, that Paramount+ had canceled NCIS: Tony & Ziva and would not order a second season. Any description of the spinoff as an upcoming or still-in-development show is therefore out of date unless it clearly refers to the original 2024 announcement.
What is NCIS: Tony & Ziva about?
The series picks up with Tony and Ziva living in Paris and raising their daughter, Tali. Tony has left NCIS to focus on raising her and operates a security company. When that company is attacked, the family goes on the run across Europe.

- NCIS: Seasons 5-8 - DVD Brand New
The central story combines a family escape with a search for the person targeting them. Tony and Ziva must protect Tali, uncover the threat, and rebuild trust while dealing with the unresolved history between them. That setup makes the show a continuation of the characters’ relationship rather than a conventional case-of-the-week extension of the CBS series.

Weatherly’s next NCIS appearance is separate from the canceled spinoff. The July 1, 2026 announcement from Paramount Press Express says he will reprise Tony DiNozzo in a season-long arc during NCIS Season 24, which airs in the 2026–2027 television season.
The mothership series is scheduled for Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CBS and will stream on Paramount+ in the United States. This is a return to the original NCIS series—not confirmation that NCIS: Tony & Ziva has been renewed.

What the news means for Tony and Ziva fans
There are two different franchise developments to keep separate. First, the Tony-and-Ziva reunion became a finished 10-episode streaming series, but that series ended without a second season. Second, Weatherly is coming back to the CBS flagship for a Season 24 story arc.
The latter announcement gives Tony DiNozzo a confirmed future in NCIS, but it does not revive the spinoff or establish that Ziva David will appear alongside him. Until CBS or Paramount makes a separate announcement, de Pablo’s involvement in the flagship series remains unconfirmed.
