That October 2024 appearance was Aniston’s first public response identified in the available reporting. The wording “finally addressed” can therefore be misleading when it refers to later coverage: she had already rejected the rumor before the story received renewed attention in 2025.
Why the rumor spread
The immediate trigger was an August 2024 In Touch Weekly cover. Aniston revisited the subject in an interview with Vanity Fair published on August 11, 2025. She said she had recently had dinner with Michelle Obama. According to the interview, the rumor was not brought up during that dinner.
Aniston also remarked that people who become subjects of tabloid reports may not pay attention to what is written about them. Her comments offered context about how little substance the story had, but they did not amount to a new revelation about Barack Obama. The 2025 interview was a follow-up, not her initial response.
