Globalization: Profits over people (2/2)

In theory, free global trade should boost prosperity and foster peaceful international coexistence. However, the reality is quite different. The documentary shows how poorer nations are restricted from accessing global markets, causing them to be excluded from beneficial labor migration. It showcases the detrimental effects of countries like the US that invest billions in agriculture and domestic industries as part of their “America First” policy stance. The result is a negative impact on poorer countries like Peru, which is still struggling to fight poverty in the era of globalization.

The documentary also highlights how labor migration is often limited despite the free flow of goods. It shows how countries like Spain are experiencing a worker shortage in their farming sector, while the EU is resisting immigration. Meanwhile, people in countries like Senegal are leaving their homes in search of better opportunities due to the appropriation of farmland by international concerns and illegal fishing. The documentary provides powerful insights into globalization and the impact it is having on people worldwide.
