Werner Herzog, an acclaimed German filmmaker and documentarian, recently teamed up with At&T to create a series of short films that would educate the public about these dangers. Herzog’s resulting documentary is a powerful look at four accidents caused by texting while driving – two of which resulted in life-shattering injuries and two of which resulted in fatalities.
Herzog’s camera captures these harrowing stories with unflinching accuracy, taking viewers through each accident, showing both the survivors and perpetrators with remarkable detail. It also goes further, exploring not only the physical damage done but also the psychological toll it takes on those involved. In one particularly moving scene, a survivor reflects on how her life changed forever due to a single moment of distraction.
