Why the offer appeared after the Disney blackout
The dispute began when the agreement between YouTube TV and Disney expired. Disney-owned channels became unavailable on YouTube TV on October 30, 2025, affecting programming such as ABC, ESPN and other Disney networks.

On November 14, 2025, YouTube TV announced that it had reached a new agreement with Disney and that the affected channels would be restored. Four days later, reporting emerged about the $60 return offer.

A discount aimed at former subscribers would make sense as a win-back incentive after cancellations, but that explanation is an inference. Neither the official YouTube TV announcement nor the 9to5Google report establishes that Google formally described the promotion as a churn-reduction campaign.
YouTube TV also said that returning subscribers could retain prior recordings, preferences and recommendations after reactivating, according to its official announcement about the Disney agreement.

- canceled around the Disney dispute or blackout;
- were identified by YouTube TV as eligible for a return promotion; and
- received a targeted email, account message or reactivation offer.
That does not mean everyone who canceled during the blackout qualified. The reporting specifically indicated that the promotion’s reach was unclear, and canceled users reported different outcomes.
A new Google account is unlikely to be a reliable workaround. If eligibility was linked to previous membership history, creating a fresh account could remove the account information needed for a returning-user offer.
How to check whether your account has the offer
- Search the email account associated with your former YouTube TV membership.
- Look for a YouTube TV or Google message mentioning a return offer, first-month discount or $60 savings.
- Sign in to YouTube TV with the exact Google account that received the message.
- Begin the membership or reactivation process through the web or the account’s available membership controls.
- Review the final checkout summary before submitting payment.
- Confirm that the first-month charge actually reflects the discount.
- Save the confirmation and note the next billing date and recurring price.
YouTube TV’s labels and buttons can vary by account, platform and billing provider, so do not assume every user will see a button named “Resume” or an identical settings path. The important test is whether the discount appears in the payment summary before you authorize the charge.

What the $60 promotion did—and did not—promise
The available report described the benefit as $60 off the first month. That normally means the regular recurring rate resumes afterward unless the offer’s own terms say otherwise.

- whether taxes or other fees are calculated separately;
- whether add-ons are excluded; and
- whether the offer has an expiration date or other redemption condition.
No verified terms in the reviewed material establish whether the discount covered sports add-ons, premium networks, NFL Sunday Ticket or other optional services. Do not assume that extras receive the same reduction.
There is also no verified evidence that the $60 offer could be combined with the separate $20 credit issued to affected subscribers. Treat the two benefits as separate unless your account explicitly says otherwise.

If the discount does not appear
- Check the Google account: you may be signed in to a different account from the one targeted.
- Check other household accounts: the message may have gone to another former member’s email address.
- Try the web signup flow: an app or TV interface may not display the same promotional information.
- Confirm the old membership ended: an active or pending membership may affect reactivation eligibility.
- Do not pay at the standard price accidentally: stop before checkout if you are only willing to return with the promotion.

Billing arrangements can matter. The $20 credit was an official compensation measure for eligible existing subscribers, not the same as the reported return incentive. YouTube TV said eligible subscribers who had not already received the credit had to claim it by December 9, 2025. Is returning to YouTube TV worthwhile?
Returning may make sense if Disney-owned channels—particularly ABC or ESPN—were the reason you canceled and those channels are now important to your household again. A verified $60 first-month reduction can also make the short-term cost of restarting service substantially lower.
But evaluate the membership at its normal recurring price, not just the promotional first month. The discount may have expired, may be restricted to one Google account, or may exclude add-ons. The Disney dispute is also a reminder that channel availability depends on carriage agreements and can change when contracts expire.
If you mainly want ESPN or another narrow set of channels, compare the full YouTube TV package with more focused options. Hulu + Live TV may appeal to viewers seeking Disney-related entertainment alongside live television. ESPN’s official service options may suit viewers who do not need a full cable-replacement package.
