YouMap Cast Receiver once let some iOS and Android apps send media to a Fire TV or Fire TV Stick, and offered Chrome-tab mirroring. TechHive reported the app at $7.99 in 2015—about $8—but its current article notice says the software is no longer available. That price and capability are historical, not a current offer or promise of compatibility.
What YouMap did
TechHive described YouMap Cast Receiver as a Fire TV app that appeared in the Cast menu of some Cast-enabled mobile apps. Users could send supported video or audio to the Fire TV, and the article also described mirroring a Chrome browser tab—including video sites such as Hulu.com—to the television. These are descriptions of the app in 2015, not confirmation that it works with current phones, apps, or Fire TV devices. TechHive’s 2015 report includes the historical $7.99 price.
How the historical setup worked
The 2015 report said users opened YouMap through Fire TV’s settings, in the installed applications list. The reviewer reported needing to restart the Fire TV before the receiver worked properly. That was one reviewer’s experience at the time, not a verified setup procedure for current devices.
Why it was only Chromecast-like
YouMap’s support was incomplete. The review characterized app support as spotty and noted that Chrome-tab video could be choppy, with audio latency. It said native casting from supported sites avoided those particular mirroring problems. In other words, the route mattered: sending media through a supported app was not the same experience as mirroring a browser tab, and neither established that every Cast-enabled app would work. TechHive’s review documents those limitations.

Google’s current documentation describes Cast as a system in which Android, iOS, or web apps can direct media to a TV or sound system while the sender controls playback, including play, pause, seek, and stop. That general description does not show that YouMap implements today’s Cast system or is compatible with current sender apps. Google Cast overview.
Can you use YouMap on a Fire TV today?
TechHive’s page now carries a notice that YouMap is no longer available. Its removal date and any region-specific surviving listing have not been established, and there is no verified current developer listing or support information here. Treat YouMap as unavailable rather than as an app you can reliably install today.

Current Fire TV devices do not all share one operating system. Amazon’s device portal identifies the Fire TV Stick 4K Select (2025) as using Vega OS, while Amazon’s specifications also cover Fire OS-based models. Those platform differences—and any hardware resemblance to an older Fire TV—do not establish YouMap compatibility. Amazon Fire TV device specifications; Amazon Fire TV developer portal.

Open a native Fire TV app
When a service has an app for your Fire TV model, opening that app is a distinct option from routing media through YouMap or mirroring a browser tab. Amazon and Google announced in 2019 that official YouTube apps would be available on Fire TV devices, but that announcement does not guarantee the present catalog on every model or in every region. Use Amazon’s documented casting route where supported
Amazon provides help for casting to Fire TV. Its instructions note a specific requirement for Prime Video: the mobile app must be using the same Amazon account as the Fire TV. This is Amazon’s service-specific casting route, not evidence that YouMap is working in the background or that every app supports casting to Fire TV. Amazon: Cast Apps to Fire TV.
