WWE SummerSlam 2023 took place Saturday, August 5, at Ford Field in Detroit. The Kickoff began at 7 p.m. ET and the main card at 8 p.m. ET. U.S. viewers watched on Peacock; WWE Network served many international markets, subject to local distribution. Roman Reigns retained the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship, while IYO SKY left the night as WWE Women’s Champion after cashing in her Money in the Bank contract.

These were the advertised program start times, not a guarantee of the bell time for any particular match. WWE listed the main show at 8/7c and its streaming announcement put the Kickoff at 7 p.m. ET.

Where it streamed—and where to find a replay
In the United States, SummerSlam 2023 streamed on Peacock, which was WWE’s exclusive U.S. streaming home for Premium Live Events at the time. Internationally, WWE Network carried the event in many territories, but distribution was not uniform worldwide; local rights partners and platforms varied by country. Australian viewers, for example, had WWE programming through Binge following the integration of the local WWE Network service.
Those are historical broadcast routes, not a guarantee of current replay access. Check the WWE SummerSlam archive, Peacock in the United States, or WWE Network and the relevant local partner in your country to see whether the full event remains available. WWE also publishes selected recaps and highlights; clips are not necessarily the complete broadcast. A 2023 subscription price should not be treated as a current price.

The night’s biggest developments
Jimmy Uso turned on Jey in Tribal Combat
In the main event, Roman Reigns and Jey Uso fought under Tribal Combat rules for Reigns’ Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. Reigns retained after Jimmy Uso returned and superkicked Jey, a betrayal that redirected the Bloodline story from Jey’s challenge to the fracture between the Uso brothers.

IYO SKY cashed in after Belair won
Bianca Belair won the scheduled triple threat against Asuka and Charlotte Flair to become WWE Women’s Champion. Moments later, IYO SKY used her Money in the Bank contract on Belair and captured the title. The distinction matters: Belair won the advertised match, but SKY was champion when the event ended.
Rhodes beat Lesnar; Gunther survived McIntyre
Cody Rhodes overcame Brock Lesnar after a punishing match that included an F-5 sending Rhodes through the announce table. Rhodes returned before the referee’s count and ultimately won. In the Intercontinental Championship match, Drew McIntyre hit a Claymore, but Gunther kicked out and retained.

Other key outcomes
Seth Rollins retained the World Heavyweight Championship against Finn Bálor. Logan Paul defeated Ricochet using brass knuckles supplied by an associate. Shayna Baszler beat former friend Ronda Rousey in their specifically billed MMA Rules Match. LA Knight won the Slim Jim-sponsored Battle Royal.

WWE reported an attendance of 59,194 and an $8.5 million gate, then a record gate for a non-WrestleMania WWE event. The company also described this as its most-watched SummerSlam to that point and reported more than 230 million social views and four million hours of video consumed.
