How Chloe Benbrooke’s murder becomes an art-world case
Will and Faith investigate the killing of model Chloe Benbrooke, found dead in Studio 4B. The studio appears to have been accessed through a booking scam: someone impersonated a famous fashion photographer to get Chloe there. The evidence suggests the murder was staged for a camera, not simply committed in a photography space. A blacklight reveal and rare film stock point toward a killer who meant to capture Chloe’s death as an image.
Will reconnects with Ava Green, a photographer and former romantic partner who knows the building’s photography scene. Her experience gives the investigators useful direction as they try to identify who arranged the shoot and why. At an art-world gathering, collector Gideon Barnell describes art as “the nothing beneath the thing”—a line that fits the episode’s preoccupation with what a photograph conceals as much as what it shows.

What Betty discovers at Viggo Shaw’s house
Betty returns from Viggo Shaw’s property with blood on her paw. Ormewood and Nico establish that it is human blood, prompting Ormewood and Angie to look into what happened. The discovery turns what began as a neighborhood check into a separate, urgent investigation.
After a stakeout, Betty rushes into the house. Ormewood and Angie follow and find Toni and Albana Kumbaro bound. Viggo says he acted in self-defense, then tries to escape on a bicycle. Ormewood catches him. The team later learns that Viggo had been placed in witness protection after working as a getaway driver for a crime family.

Valentina later takes Ava at gunpoint and demands the negatives. Faith fires a warning shot, creating the distraction Will and Faith need to save Ava and arrest Valentina. That resolves the immediate threat, but the case leaves a troubling visual clue: a developed image of Chloe’s eye shows two silhouettes reflected in her cornea, suggesting someone else was present. The episode does not identify those figures.
What Ava’s photograph means for Will
After helping the investigation and surviving Valentina’s threat, Ava gives Will a black-and-white photograph she took of him. She is leaving town for a few weeks, so the gesture is both a goodbye for now and a sign that their connection has not disappeared. The case brings Ava back into Will’s life through her expertise; the photograph leaves their personal relationship open rather than neatly resolved.
