The official IKEA US listing shows a $19.99 price and lets you check delivery and nearby-store availability; the UK price reported by The Independent was £17.99 on 26 February 2026. Stock, prices and delivery depend on your country and the date you check.
How to buy the exact plush
- Open your country’s IKEA website and search for “DJUNGELSKOG Soft toy, orangutan” or product number 104.028.41.
- Set your delivery postcode or location. IKEA’s product page will show whether the toy can be delivered or collected at a selected store.
- Confirm the product number before paying. The listing should identify the orangutan model as 104.028.41, rather than a different DJUNGELSKOG animal or a smaller orangutan toy.
- Choose delivery or store collection if the option is available in your area. Availability is dynamic and can change after you place an item in your basket.
The IKEA listing gives the most reliable price, stock and return information for your market. There is no documented zoo receipt establishing that IKEA supplied Punch’s original toy; reporting establishes that his keepers gave him an orangutan toy, while IKEA’s specifications identify the matching model.
What Punch’s toy is
Punch is a Japanese macaque at Ichikawa City Zoological and Botanical Garden in Japan. According to the Associated Press, he was abandoned by his mother and hand-reared by zookeepers, who gave him an orangutan toy to help him develop his gripping ability. By July 2026, he was spending time with other monkeys and no longer clinging to the plush.
The model identified in coverage of the viral videos is IKEA’s full-size DJUNGELSKOG Soft toy, orangutan, SKU 104.028.41. The Independent reported that demand led to sell-outs in stores and online, followed by resale listings at roughly three times the retail price.

Resale marketplaces
Resale sites may have the correct plush when IKEA has no stock, but coverage has reported markups of about three times retail during the viral surge. Compare the seller’s photos with the DJUNGELSKOG design, request the product-number tag when possible, and check the seller’s returns policy. A high price does not prove authenticity.

Amazon searches
The honest search phrase is “DJUNGELSKOG orangutan plush toy.” The phrase describes the physical product, but a current authentic Amazon offer has not been verified. Check that any listing names IKEA, shows product number 104.028.41, states the item’s condition and provides a workable return policy.
Unofficial “Punch” merchandise
Listings branded as “Punch official” are not automatically IKEA products. Treat them as separate merchandise unless the seller can document that the item is the IKEA DJUNGELSKOG plush with SKU 104.028.41.

How to avoid buying the wrong orangutan
- Match the SKU: look for 104.028.41, not only the word “orangutan.”
- Check the size: the full model is about 14 1/4 inches tall; a mini version is a different purchase.
- Identify the seller: IKEA is the primary official source; marketplace sellers are resale sources.
- Review condition: confirm whether the toy is new, used, washed or missing tags.
- Read returns terms: especially for international resale orders or marketplace listings.
- Consider the age label: IKEA recommends the plush for children 18 months and older.
Why the toy became difficult to find
Punch’s story generated international attention, including roughly 2,500 birthday cards received by the zoo, according to AP reporting that quoted zoo head Takashi Yasunaga. The resulting demand emptied some IKEA stores and online inventories, while resellers raised prices. That shortage does not establish a permanent discontinuation: only the IKEA availability checker for your location can show whether a restock or delivery slot is currently available.
