Spoilers for the Season 2 finale of Will Trent. Will leaves town with his dog, Betty, after arresting Angie. The episode never reveals where he is going. Puerto Rico was one possible destination discussed afterward by co-showrunner Daniel Thomsen, but neither the finale nor Thomsen confirmed that Will went there.
Why Will leaves Atlanta
The finale reveals that Crystal is the killer targeting sex offenders across Georgia. After Angie confronts her, Crystal runs, falls head-first into a rock, and dies. Angie tells Will and Faith about her connection to Crystal but keeps quiet about Crystal’s responsibility for Lenny Broussard’s death. Will pieces that together and gets confirmation from Crystal’s mother.

Will then arrests Angie for tampering with evidence and making false statements related to Lenny’s death. Before doing so, he imagines a life in which he and Angie marry and share a future together. The sequence is an imagined alternative—not a literal flash-forward or evidence that they actually married.
What the finale shows about Will’s destination
After the arrest, Will returns home, packs a bag, and leaves town with Betty. Amanda arrives after he is gone; Will has left Nico money for utilities while he is away. The episode ends without naming Will’s destination.

Did Will go to Puerto Rico?
In a post-finale interview with TVLine, co-showrunner Daniel Thomsen was asked whether Will had gone to Puerto Rico to visit his uncle Antonio. Thomsen said it was “definitely on our board for options” and added that “no decisions have been made yet.” He described Puerto Rico as high on the list of places Will might want to go—not as a confirmed destination.
So the distinction is straightforward: viewers see Will leave town with Betty; Puerto Rico was one possibility the writers were considering after the episode aired.
