Dailymotion had a localized presence in Brazil by 2010, but the available record does not establish an exact launch date or a dated, standalone announcement that the platform was officially launching there. A separate milestone is clear: on March 24, 2022, Dailymotion announced a regional advertising-sales agreement that included Brazil. That deal documents commercial representation, not the platform’s first arrival.

Brazil was already a competitive video market
The early evidence places Dailymotion within a market that already had local video activity and international competition. YouTube’s Brazilian localization was reported in June 2007, while Videolog appeared among Brazil’s video sources in a 2007 Truveo announcement. These examples are useful context, but they do not establish rankings, audience sizes or market shares.

That distinction matters: Dailymotion’s Brazilian expansion should not be described as the first arrival of international online video in the country. The sources instead point to platforms localizing for Brazil amid an existing field of domestic and international services.
What Brazilian viewers and publishers can be said to have received
The 2010 report establishes local-language sites, but the available record does not itemize Brazil-specific features such as local recommendations, Brazilian editorial categories, named creator recruitment, publisher partnerships, or local moderation arrangements. It would be unsafe to present those as launch benefits without country-specific documentation.

Dailymotion’s general model includes video distribution and advertising. Its help center describes in-stream ads displayed within the video player, but that general documentation does not prove that every feature, ad format or monetization arrangement was available to Brazilian accounts at a particular historical date. Why the 2022 agreement is a different milestone
The Discovery Latin America agreement is the clearest first-party evidence in this record of a defined commercial footprint that explicitly included Brazil. Dailymotion described Discovery Latin America as its advertising-sales representative across the region. This shows an arrangement for selling advertising inventory; it does not establish when Brazilian viewers first gained access, whether Dailymotion had a Brazilian subsidiary, or the size of its local audience.

For advertisers, the announcement signals a route to regional sales representation, but it does not publish Brazil-specific rates or a public rate card. For publishers and professional video operators, Dailymotion’s broader business positioning emphasizes video distribution and advertising-supported content; the available sources do not document a named Brazil-specific publisher deal.
Copyright and the professional-content question
Dailymotion’s international growth took place alongside disputes over how a user-upload platform should handle copyrighted material. Jondet’s 2008 study describes the company’s broader use of filtering technology and media partnerships in that context. It is useful background for understanding the tension between open uploads and professional or licensed video, but it does not demonstrate a particular Brazilian rights partnership or local enforcement policy.

So, did Dailymotion officially launch in Brazil?
If “launch” means that Brazil became part of Dailymotion’s localized international footprint, the evidence supports saying it was established by 2010. If it means a precisely dated, formal Brazil launch announcement, that date is not verified by the available first-party archive and historical sources. The 2022 announcement is definite, but it marks regional ad-sales representation covering Brazil—not Dailymotion’s debut in the country.
