Mel and Jack’s path to parenthood
After their fertility struggles, Mel and Jack pursue adoption. Smith has described adoption as the next stage of Mel’s parenthood journey. Their plans unfold alongside the practical challenges of settling into life on the farm, rather than replacing the series’ other storylines.
Other relationships in town
The season also continues the stories of Hope and Doc, Preacher and Kaia, and Lizzie and Denny. Netflix’s Season 7 preview notes that Lizzie and Denny are expecting their first child; these are some of the ongoing relationships, not a complete list of the season’s subplots.
