Short answer: Virgin Mobile ran a legitimate promotion giving eligible customers two months of Crave + Movies + HBO at no charge. The offer was announced on May 12, 2021, and ended on March 1, 2022. It is not a currently redeemable deal.
The promotion was reported by MobileSyrup and required a credit card because the subscription would renew automatically after the free period unless cancelled.
What the promotion included
Eligible Virgin Mobile customers received two months of the then-described Crave + Movies + HBO package. That meant access to Crave programming, movies and HBO content during the promotional period.
At the reported price of C$19.98 per month, waiving two monthly charges represented C$39.96, or approximately C$40. This was a discount on subscription charges, not cash back. Taxes and any charges after the free period were separate.

Who was eligible
The offer was aimed at eligible Virgin Mobile customers. The published coverage does not establish that every subscriber qualified, nor does it provide a complete matrix for every plan, province or account status.
Home service-only members
Virgin Home Phone and Home Internet-only members had a separate limitation: they could redeem the benefit through the My Benefits app while connected to Wi‑Fi.

How redemption worked
The historical coverage does not preserve a complete set of app screens or button labels. The safest description of the process is:
Recommended Free Tools
- Sign in to the Virgin Mobile account or open its benefits area.
- Find the Crave promotional benefit and follow its activation link.
- Create a Crave account or link an existing account if the offer permits it.
- Enter a credit card when requested.
- Before finishing, confirm that the free promotional period or credit is shown.
- Record the renewal date and cancel before the first paid renewal if you do not want to continue.
Existing Crave customers should not assume that a direct-billed subscription would automatically convert. The published offer does not clarify how active Crave subscriptions were handled, so the offer’s own terms and the account activation screen controlled.
The automatic-renewal warning
A credit card was required for automatic renewal after the two free months. Unless the customer cancelled, the subscription was set to continue as a paid service. Customers could cancel at any time, but cancellation timing mattered because the first paid renewal followed the promotional period.

Common account-management pitfalls
- Using different email addresses for the Virgin and Crave accounts can make the linked subscription difficult to find.
- An existing Crave subscription may remain billed directly unless the activation terms specifically change it.
- A Crave subscription obtained through a TV provider is a different billing relationship from a mobility benefit.
- If the promotional status is not visible after linking, do not assume activation succeeded; check the account or contact support before relying on the free period.
- Ending the qualifying Virgin service could affect a carrier-linked benefit, depending on its terms.
When the deal ended
The promotion ended on March 1, 2022. It was therefore a historical 2021–2022 offer, not a deal that Virgin customers can claim in 2026. Search results may still surface the original announcement, but its published end date is decisive.
Virgin Mobile versus Virgin Plus today
Virgin Mobile Canada later used the Virgin Plus branding. Current Virgin Plus support describes a different mobility-linked arrangement: eligible mobility customers may receive Crave Standard With Ads, with the subscription managed and billed through the Virgin Plus account. That current benefit does not revive the expired two-month Crave + Movies + HBO promotion.
The current FAQ also says that mobility customers create and link a Crave account to their Virgin Plus mobile number, then sign in through Crave or its app using the credentials created during setup. It distinguishes mobility billing from subscriptions billed directly by Crave or supplied through a TV provider.

Current Virgin Plus information describes Standard With Ads as supporting two simultaneous streams and up to 1080p resolution, while some titles or features may be unavailable on an ad-supported plan. Those specifications apply to the current service, not necessarily to the 2021 package.

Compare direct Crave billing
A direct subscription from Crave may be simpler if you do not want to change wireless providers. Current plans and prices should be checked at checkout because they are separate from the historical Virgin promotion.
Do not buy mobile service solely for the expired deal
Virgin Plus says eligibility for current benefits depends on the plan and account. Compare the total cost of any mobile plan with the cost of streaming directly; a historical two-month discount is not a reason by itself to switch carriers.
Bell also advertises a separate mobility-linked offer at bell.ca. It is a Bell Mobility promotion, not a continuation of the Virgin Mobile offer, and its terms and pricing can differ.
Bottom line
Virgin Mobile’s offer was real: eligible customers received two free months of Crave + Movies + HBO, worth about C$39.96 at the reported 2021 price. A credit card and automatic renewal made cancellation essential. Because the offer expired on March 1, 2022, current customers should check their Virgin Plus account for today’s separate Crave benefit instead of relying on the old promotion.
