There is no universal winner. Twitch is the stronger default if measured audience scale and an established range of creator features matter most. Kick may suit creators who value its published 95/5 subscription and KICKs revenue split. In Stream Hatchet’s Q1 2026 estimate, Twitch had 4.5 billion hours watched and Kick had 1.3 billion; those are platform-wide hours, not unique viewers or a forecast of what an individual channel will earn.
How large are Twitch and Kick’s audiences?
Stream Hatchet’s Q1 2026 report estimates 4.5 billion hours watched on Twitch and 1.3 billion on Kick. It also reports 65% year-over-year growth in Kick hours watched for that quarter. These are estimates of viewing time across tracked platforms, not counts of people or unique users. A larger total does not establish how easily a particular creator will be discovered.
For a creator choosing where to start, Twitch’s larger measured viewing total is a reason to consider it first when reach is the priority. Kick’s reported growth may make it worth considering, but neither figure tells you how many viewers a channel in your game, language, or region can attract. Stream Hatchet’s Q1 2026 report covers the period and methodology behind these estimates.
Which platform’s creator monetization is better?
Kick’s published terms are more generous on their face for subscriptions and KICKs: Kick says creators receive 95% of those revenue streams, with 5% taken as a processing fee. Its August 27, 2026 article gives a $5 monthly subscription as an example, with $4.75 to the creator and $0.25 as the processing fee. That example is not a promise of take-home earnings in every account or situation.

Twitch’s official materials describe a standard 50/50 Affiliate subscription split and higher qualifying levels through its Plus Program. Partners can also earn from ads. Twitch’s specific current Affiliate thresholds and individual terms should be checked directly; the available official material does not establish a current threshold suitable for quoting here.
A revenue percentage alone cannot predict income. Actual earnings depend on how many viewers subscribe or send KICKs, audience conversion, ad demand, eligibility, payment conditions, and any account-specific program terms. Kick’s 95/5 description applies to the named subscription and KICKs revenue streams, not every possible source of creator income.

Kick’s June 26, 2026 help article says subscriptions can be enabled after five cumulative streaming hours, followed by setup in the dashboard. Meeting that requirement enables a feature; it does not guarantee subscribers or earnings. See Kick’s revenue split explanation and its creator and subscription guidance for current platform-published details.
Can you stream on Twitch and Kick at the same time?
Both platforms have rules that matter if you simulcast. Twitch permits simulcasting subject to conditions in its guidelines and terms. Kick’s described multistream feature applies to KICK Partner Program streamers; eligible streamers must enable the multistream toggle for long-form platforms such as Twitch. Kick says payout is reduced by 50% during an enabled multistream session.

Before going live on both, review the current terms and any account-specific agreement on each service. Kick’s payout adjustment can materially change the value of simulcasting, while Twitch’s restrictions affect how you present the combined experience. For example, Twitch’s rules address merging activity from another platform into the Twitch experience and directing Twitch viewers to another live stream. Consult Kick’s multistream instructions, Twitch’s Simulcasting Guidelines FAQ, and Twitch’s Terms of Service before relying on a workflow.
Which platform’s rules and community fit your channel?
Twitch’s Terms of Service and Community Standards, and Kick’s Community Guidelines, set out rules creators should review against their content and audience. Kick’s guidelines, updated March 19, 2026, prohibit specified harmful content, including hate speech and dangerous self-harm content, and describe context-based moderation for many cases.

Written policy does not establish how consistently a platform enforces it or which community will feel safer for a particular creator. Consider the moderation tools and audience norms you need, read the current rules, and decide whether the platform’s content expectations fit your channel. Kick’s published rules are at Kick’s Community Guidelines; Twitch’s relevant terms are at Twitch’s Terms of Service.

- Start with Twitch if the larger measured viewing audience and its established Affiliate, Partner, and ad features are your main priorities. Check current program terms before planning around eligibility or payouts.
- Consider Kick if its published subscription and KICKs split, subscription access process, and community fit matter more to you. The split is not an earnings guarantee, and multistreaming can reduce Kick payout under its Partner Program rule.
- Compare with your own goals rather than treating total platform hours as a prediction. Think about your intended content, language, audience, moderation needs, monetization plan, and whether you want to simulcast.
For a basic setup, expensive equipment is not a prerequisite: Kick’s creator guidance says basic gear can improve stream quality without requiring the most expensive equipment. A USB streaming microphone may help if clearer voice audio is a priority, but choose equipment for your budget, device compatibility, room acoustics, and workflow.
