Spoilers for Tracker Season 3, Episode 9, “Good Trouble,” and the later midseason premiere, “The Fallout.” The fall finale ends with Keaton shot and Colter trying to get him to a hospital when gunfire forces their car off the road. Episode 9 leaves both men’s immediate fates uncertain; the March 1, 2026 midseason premiere confirms Keaton survived and Colter was injured.
What happens at the end of “Good Trouble”?
In “Good Trouble,” Colter’s old friend Keaton asks for help finding his former partner. Their search uncovers bodies and a deeper conspiracy, according to CBS’s episode listing. The case becomes personal when Keaton is shot. Colter tries to get him to a hospital, but their car comes under fire and goes off the road, as contemporary finale coverage describes.
That is where Episode 9 leaves viewers: the crash and attack make it unclear on screen whether either man will survive. The episode does not reveal the full conspiracy or establish every perpetrator’s motive, so the cliffhanger is not a complete explanation of the case.
Are Colter and Keaton dead?
Not according to the next episode. The March 1, 2026 midseason premiere, “The Fallout,” confirms that Keaton survived. Colter also returns, injured and facing further trouble. That later confirmation answers the survival question, but it should be kept separate from what the fall finale itself shows: “Good Trouble” ends before their fates are settled.

What does the cliffhanger mean for the story?
The final attack turns a missing-person search into an immediate crisis for Colter and Keaton, while carrying the investigation into the next part of the season. The threat has escalated beyond the original search, but Episode 9 does not identify every responsible party or explain the full conspiracy. Showrunner and executive producer Elwood Reid described Colter’s condition after the cliffhanger as “It’s pretty bad,” in a December 2025 report by Us Weekly. Reid’s remark describes the aftermath, not dialogue spoken in the episode.
Why is Episode 9 called the fall finale?
“Good Trouble” is Season 3, Episode 9, dated December 14, 2025. It is the fall or midseason finale, not the season finale. CBS’s Season 3 episode guide lists episodes after it, including “The Fallout,” and identifies “The Best Ones” as the season finale scheduled for May 24, 2026. The fall finale’s unresolved ending is therefore a break in the season’s story, not the series’ final answer to Colter’s case.
