Yes—but with an important qualification. The Wrecking Crew, the 2026 action comedy starring Dave Bautista and Jason Momoa, reached No. 1 on FlixPatrol’s tracked global Amazon Prime movie chart on January 29, one day after its January 28 release. That makes it an exceptionally fast streaming-chart success, although Amazon has not publicly disclosed a one-day audience total or officially called it a record.

#1 Best Overall
- Tom Cruise 10 Movie Collection
- Product Type: Physical Movie
- Brand: Paramount
The film’s central appeal is the clash between its leads. Jonny is the more impulsive brother, while James is presented as the more disciplined and controlled counterpart. Their uneasy partnership gives the movie its buddy-action-comedy setup: two physically imposing stars who must overcome their personal hostility long enough to work together.
Prime Video lists the movie as an approximately two-hour-and-four-minute action title. The cast also includes Claes Bang, Jacob Batalon, Frankie Adams, Stephen Root, Temuera Morrison, Morena Baccarin and others. Amazon’s January 2026 Prime Video schedule identifies January 28, 2026 as the film’s release date.
How quickly did it become a streaming hit?
The Wrecking Crew was ranked No. 1 among movies on FlixPatrol’s global Amazon Prime chart for January 29, 2026—the day after its release. It was listed ahead of titles including Ballerina, The Tank and Shadow Force.
That is the basis for describing the movie as an “instant streaming hit”: it reached the top of a tracked popularity ranking within roughly 24 hours. The early momentum was not limited to a single global-chart snapshot. FlixPatrol also listed the movie at No. 1 on the U.S. Amazon Prime overall and movie charts on February 2, several days after release. Its January 31 global country table likewise showed the film in prominent positions across multiple national Amazon Prime charts.
Those results suggest strong early interest, but they should not be confused with an official viewership record. FlixPatrol publishes rankings and popularity scores; the cited data does not reveal how many people watched the film, how many hours it generated, how many viewers finished it or how much revenue it earned. Amazon has not, according to the available evidence, announced The Wrecking Crew as a formal one-day record-setter.
FlixPatrol’s January 29 global chart supports the immediate No. 1 ranking, while its February 2 U.S. chart supports the film’s continued position at the top of that tracked ranking.
Why the movie attracted attention so quickly
The most obvious draw is the pairing of Momoa and Bautista. Both actors are associated with large-scale action roles, but the film uses their contrasting screen personas for comic friction as well as physical spectacle. The story gives them a straightforward commercial hook: hostile brothers, a suspicious death and a conspiracy that requires them to fight side by side.
That formula also makes the film easy to sample on a streaming service. Viewers do not need familiarity with a long-running franchise to understand the premise, and the two-star pairing communicates the movie’s tone immediately. The result is a recognizable combination of action, family tension, mystery and comedy rather than a documentary or a traditional crime procedural.
Rank #3
Is The Wrecking Crew well reviewed?
The critical response is favorable overall but not universally enthusiastic. Rotten Tomatoes lists the film at 74% on the Tomatometer from 70 reviews on the cited page. Its critics consensus highlights the charm of Momoa and Bautista while also describing the story as thin.
That assessment helps explain the distinction between popularity and critical acclaim. The movie’s rapid chart rise appears to be driven primarily by its accessible premise, recognizable leads and Prime Video availability. A No. 1 streaming ranking demonstrates audience attention on a particular tracking service; it does not by itself establish that the movie is a major critical success.
You can consult the cited Rotten Tomatoes page for the current review score, which may change as additional reviews are added.

The precise, defensible version of the headline is therefore: The Wrecking Crew quickly became a chart-topping Prime Video movie according to third-party streaming data. It is too early—or the available evidence is too limited—to claim that Amazon reported a formal viewing record.
