The major update is that Prime Video canceled The Wheel of Time after its third season. Entertainment outlets reported the decision on May 23, 2025, and said there would be no season 4. Season 3 remains listed on Prime Video for viewing or purchase, subject to regional availability.
Is there going to be a season 4?
No. TVLine reported on May 23, 2025, citing Deadline, that Prime Video had canceled the series after three seasons and would not make a fourth. TheWrap also reported the cancellation that day.
The reporting connected the decision to the business case around season 3’s viewership and production costs. It did not establish an official Amazon explanation or provide a suitable original audience figure, so specific viewership numbers should not be inferred.
What happens in season 3?
The series adapts Robert Jordan’s high-fantasy novels. Season 3 takes place after Rand al’Thor’s confrontation with Ishamael, as threats to the Light multiply. Amazon’s season overview points to conflict in the White Tower, the Black Ajah, renewed danger in the Two Rivers, and the remaining Forsaken pursuing the Dragon. The season also adds Shohreh Aghdashloo as Elaida do Avriny a’Roihan.

Prime Video’s season 3 catalog listing shows eight episodes and access through Prime or season purchase. Which option appears, and its price, can vary by region and change over time. Amazon also says the season is streaming on Prime Video.

Can the books continue the story?
The cancellation ends the television adaptation, not Robert Jordan’s book series. The Eye of the World is the first novel and a natural starting point for viewers interested in the source material. It is not a continuation or substitute for the unproduced season 4, and the books follow their own story across the series.
