What is The Waterfront about?
The series follows the Buckleys as their long-dominant fishing operation begins to crumble. Belle and Cane try to keep the business running while Harlan recovers from his heart attacks. Bree’s recovery and custody situation add another crisis, and Harlan’s return changes the family’s balance of power. Local business interests, law enforcement and a DEA investigation widen the pressure beyond the household.
Is The Waterfront based on a true story?
Netflix describes The Waterfront as “inspired by true events,” but the Buckley family and Havenport are fictional. That label refers to creator Kevin Williamson’s personal and regional inspirations, including his North Carolina roots and memories; it does not identify the series as a factual account of a real family.
