That Steve Rogers reveal is separate from the official Avengers: Doomsday trailer Disney lists today.
What happened to the first teaser?
Ars Technica reported on December 23, 2025, that the first teaser had leaked online a few days earlier and that Marvel had since released an HD version publicly. The headline “Leaked Avengers: Doomsday teaser is now public” describes that sequence, not a new release. Ars Technica’s report is the source for the leak and the public HD release.
What did the teaser show?
According to Ars Technica, the teaser revealed Steve Rogers, also known as Captain America, played by Chris Evans, and a newborn baby. The report speculated that the baby was with Hayley Atwell’s Peggy Carter; that detail was not confirmed in the official materials cited here. Disney’s film pages list Evans among the cast, but the consulted official pages do not confirm the baby’s identity or circumstances.
Is the first teaser the same as the official trailer?
No. The first teaser was the short December 2025 reveal described above. Disney currently lists an official Avengers: Doomsday trailer among the film’s videos, and Disney UK Press announced a new trailer and poster on July 20, 2026. Those later official materials should not be confused with the earlier teaser or its leak. See Disney UK Press’s trailer announcement and the official Disney film page.

What was reported about the teaser rollout?
Ars Technica described a plan, at the time of its December 2025 report, for four teasers to arrive one per week ahead of screenings of Avatar: Fire and Ash. It said the other expected teasers would focus on Thor and Doctor Doom, followed by a more traditional trailer. That was the rollout reporting in December 2025, not a current schedule.
What is the film’s current release information?
Disney’s listings give different dates by territory. The Disney US page lists a December 18, 2026 release, while Disney UK Press gives December 16, 2026 for UK cinemas. Check the listing for your territory rather than treating either date as universal.

Disney’s US page identifies Anthony Russo and Joe Russo as directors, Stephen McFeely as writer, and Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, and Jonathan Schwartz as producers. It describes heroes from three distinct universes on a collision course with an existential threat, lists the film as not yet rated, and includes the official trailer among its videos.

Ars Technica reported that the Russo brothers chose the Secret Wars storyline to bring to the screen before Doomsday. That is background about the filmmakers’ stated story direction; it does not establish that a particular comic edition appears in the teaser or that viewers need to read one to understand the film.
