Yes. As of October 8, 2026, Fallout has strong critic and audience scores on Rotten Tomatoes, while Metacritic places both seasons at 73. The numbers differ because the sites use different systems, and neither means every viewer or critic agrees. Amazon has also reported substantial viewership, but those company figures are separate from independent review scores.
How high are the ratings?
Rotten Tomatoes’ live series page lists a 94% average Tomatometer across 204 reviews and a 96% average Popcornmeter from more than 10,000 ratings. Its season listings show the second season ahead of the first on the Tomatometer. Metacritic lists both seasons at 73 on its own critic-review scale.
| Season or measure | Rotten Tomatoes | Metacritic |
|---|---|---|
| Season 1 | 93% Tomatometer; 132 reviews. 95% Popcornmeter; more than 10,000 ratings. Season detail page, checked October 8, 2026. | 73. Metacritic season listing, checked October 8, 2026. |
| Season 2 | 96% Tomatometer on the live series page, checked October 8, 2026. A season-specific review count and audience score are not stated here. | 73. Metacritic season listing, checked October 8, 2026. |
| Series overall | 94% average Tomatometer across 204 reviews; 96% average Popcornmeter from more than 10,000 ratings. Live series page, checked October 8, 2026. | Not stated as a single series-wide score; Metacritic lists each season at 73. |
These figures are snapshots: Rotten Tomatoes scores and counts can change as reviews and audience ratings accumulate. The Tomatometer and Metacritic scores aggregate critics’ reviews using different methods; their percentages and 100-point scores are not directly interchangeable. Rotten Tomatoes’ Popcornmeter reflects audience ratings, not critic reviews.
What critics praise about Fallout
Review coverage highlights several recurring strengths: the adaptation’s storytelling, its detailed post-apocalyptic setting, committed performances, and its shifts between absurd comedy and violence. Critics have also praised how the series engages with the world and tone of Bethesda’s game franchise. These are critical judgments, not a guarantee that every viewer will respond the same way.

Examples show the enthusiasm without standing in for every review. Den of Geek critic Bernard Boo wrote that the adaptation “does something the games in the legendary franchise never have—put storytelling above all else.” JoBlo critic Alex Maidy called it “the new standard for video game adaptations.” Both are individual critics’ assessments, not a unanimous verdict.
Is the praise unanimous?
No. Metacritic’s review page includes reservations about pacing and resolution, and Rotten Tomatoes’ Season 1 page includes negative audience reviews. High aggregate scores indicate that positive responses predominate within those platforms’ collected reviews or ratings; they do not erase disagreement or establish that the show works equally well for everyone.

Does the audience response show the series is popular?
Amazon has described Fallout as a major Prime Video hit, but its audience figures should be read as company-reported performance claims, not independent ratings. In April 2024, Amazon MGM Studios said Season One ranked among Prime Video’s top three most-watched titles ever. In December 2025, Amazon Ads said more than 100 million people worldwide had watched the series since its debut. The claims use different measures and dates, so they should not be treated as a direct comparison or as third-party audience measurement.
