The Best Movies on Amazon Prime Video in September 2024: U.S. Prime-Included Picks

A historical U.S. guide to the best movies included with Prime Video during September 2024, with arrival dates, ratings, runtimes, genres, family warnings, and Freevee distinctions.

The best movie to watch from the U.S. Prime Video lineup in September 2024 was Galaxy Quest. It is funny, fast, warm, and accessible enough for a group watch, while still offering plenty for science-fiction fans. For something more serious, choose In the Name of the Father; for family viewing, choose Paddington 2 or Puss in Boots: The Last Wish; for action, choose Dredd; and for horror, choose Drag Me to Hell.

This is a historical U.S. catalog snapshot covering September 1–30, 2024. It is not a claim that these films are still available on Prime Video in 2026. Prime Video libraries change by country, date, and licensing agreement, and Amazon separates titles included with Prime from Freevee, rentals, purchases, and add-on channels.

Scope: U.S. Prime Video availability during September 2024. Unless otherwise noted, the recommendations below refer to films reported as included with a normal U.S. Prime membership during that month. Always check the title card before pressing play: a film can remain searchable on Amazon while requiring a rental, purchase, channel subscription, or a different free service.

Quick answer: the six best choices

Movie Best for Year Rating Runtime September availability Access
Galaxy Quest Best overall 1999 PG 104 min September 1 Included with Prime
In the Name of the Father Best serious drama 1993 R 133 min September 1 Included with Prime
Election Best political satire 1999 R 103 min September 1 Included with Prime
In the Heights Best musical 2021 PG-13 143 min September 1 Included with Prime
Puss in Boots: The Last Wish Best family adventure 2022 PG 102 min September 12 Included with Prime
Paddington 2 Best all-ages comfort movie 2017 PG 103 min September 26 Included with Prime

The September schedule was unusually strong because it mixed acclaimed dramas and modern comedies with cult movies, classics, horror, action, and family films. TechRadar reported that more than 100 titles were scheduled to join Prime Video on September 1, although different outlets did not classify every title in exactly the same way. See the full September schedule from TechRadar and the U.S. Prime Video and Freevee calendar from Tom’s Guide.

What counts as being on Amazon Prime Video?

Amazon Video is a storefront as well as a subscription service, so the phrase on Prime Video can mean several different things. Amazon’s own help material distinguishes among the following access types:

Label What it means Counted in this guide?
Included with Prime Streamed without a separate rental or purchase fee by a Prime member. Yes
Freevee Free, ad-supported viewing. It does not require a Prime membership, although it may appear inside the Prime Video app. Listed separately only
Rent or buy Available through Amazon, but requires a separate transaction. No
Channel required Requires an additional subscription such as Max, MGM+, Starz, or Paramount+. No

Amazon says that the Included with Prime catalog changes over time. Its help documentation also explains that Prime Video availability varies by location. That is why this article uses both a country and a month rather than presenting the list as a permanent catalog.

The best movies included with Prime in September 2024

1. Galaxy Quest — best overall

1999 · PG · 104 minutes · science-fiction comedy · arrived September 1 · Included with Prime

Galaxy Quest is the easiest recommendation on the entire list. The cast plays the washed-up stars of a cancelled space-adventure television show who are mistaken for real intergalactic heroes. The joke works as a loving parody of science-fiction fandom, but the film gradually becomes a sincere adventure about courage, teamwork, and taking responsibility.

It is clever without being inaccessible, nostalgic without requiring detailed knowledge of Star Trek, and short enough for an uncomplicated evening watch. Contemporary September coverage reported a 90% Rotten Tomatoes critics score; scores can change as pages and review totals are updated, so treat that figure as a historical reference rather than a permanent rating. See the Rotten Tomatoes entry for Galaxy Quest.

Caveat: The film includes comic peril and action violence, but its tone is broadly light and suitable for most teenagers and adults.

2. In the Name of the Father — best serious drama

1993 · R · approximately 133 minutes · historical courtroom drama · arrived September 1 · Included with Prime

Daniel Day-Lewis stars as Gerry Conlon, one of the people wrongly imprisoned in the Guildford pub bombings case. The film follows the fight to expose a coerced confession and a profound miscarriage of justice, with Pete Postlethwaite giving a memorable performance as Conlon’s father.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

This is the most substantial dramatic recommendation from the September 1 additions. It is also the least casual: the film deals with imprisonment, torture, political violence, grief, and the damage caused by institutional injustice. September coverage cited a 94% Rotten Tomatoes critics score. Check the Rotten Tomatoes title page.

Caveat: Its R rating and emotionally punishing subject matter make it a poor choice for young viewers or a light movie night.

3. Election — best political satire

1999 · R · 103 minutes · comedy and satire · arrived September 1 · Included with Prime

Reese Witherspoon plays Tracy Flick, an ambitious high-school candidate determined to win an election, while Matthew Broderick plays the teacher who becomes dangerously invested in stopping her. Alexander Payne’s film turns school politics into a viciously funny study of entitlement, resentment, ambition, and the stories people tell about themselves.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The film was especially well timed for September 2024, arriving during another U.S. election season, although its satire is broader and more durable than a simple campaign-season joke. Contemporary coverage listed it at 92% on Rotten Tomatoes. See the Rotten Tomatoes entry for Election.

Caveat: The characters are deliberately unpleasant, and the R rating reflects sexual references, language, and mature situations.

4. In the Heights — best musical

2021 · PG-13 · 143 minutes · musical drama · arrived September 1 · Included with Prime

Jon M. Chu’s adaptation of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s stage musical follows several residents of New York’s Washington Heights as they navigate family, romance, identity, work, and the possibility of leaving home. The film’s large-scale musical numbers give it a strong sense of place, while its central question is whether success means escaping a community or investing in it.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

It was one of the highest-rated September additions in contemporary coverage, which cited a 94% Rotten Tomatoes critics score. The 143-minute runtime matters: this is a full evening commitment rather than a quick after-dinner watch.

Caveat: It is PG-13 and includes mature themes, language, romance, and discussions of immigration and financial hardship. View the Rotten Tomatoes page.

5. Puss in Boots: The Last Wish — best family adventure

2022 · PG · 102 minutes · animated adventure · arrived September 12 · Included with Prime

The Shrek spin-off gives Puss a surprisingly thoughtful story: after discovering that he has used eight of his nine lives, he sets out to find a mythical wish. The result is a colorful, funny adventure with a real sense of danger and an unusually direct meditation on mortality, fear, and appreciating the life one has.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Tom’s Guide reported a 95% Rotten Tomatoes score when it highlighted the film among September’s high-rated Prime additions. Read that September recommendation list.

Caveat: The PG rating is not a guarantee of completely gentle viewing. The film contains frightening imagery, peril, combat, and a particularly intense villain for sensitive younger children.

6. Paddington 2 — best all-ages comfort watch

2017 · PG · approximately 103 minutes · family comedy · arrived September 26 · Included with Prime

Paddington 2 is the safest broad-audience choice in the September schedule. Paddington tries to buy a pop-up book for his aunt’s birthday, only for the book to be stolen and Paddington to be blamed. The film combines visual comedy, a warm ensemble cast, handmade-looking production design, and an unusually generous view of kindness.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Tom’s Guide reported a 99% Rotten Tomatoes score, while the film was also included in Rotten Tomatoes’ September streaming calendar. Some streaming listings display the film as a 2018 title because of regional release and catalog metadata; 2017 is the commonly used main release year. See Rotten Tomatoes’ September 2024 calendar.

Caveat: There is mild peril and a prison storyline, but the film is generally appropriate for family viewing.

7. Dredd — best compact action movie

2012 · R · 95 minutes · science-fiction action · arrived September 1 · Included with Prime

Karl Urban plays the helmeted law officer Judge Dredd, trapped inside a massive apartment block controlled by a drug gang. The premise is simple, the setting is contained, and the execution is relentless. Its oppressive architecture, inventive slow-motion sequences, and stripped-down pacing make it a stronger choice than many much larger action films.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Caveat: This is emphatically adult action: graphic violence, drug use, harsh language, and disturbing imagery make it unsuitable for children.

8. Drag Me to Hell — best horror pick

2009 · PG-13 · 99 minutes · supernatural horror · arrived September 1 · Included with Prime

Sam Raimi’s horror-comedy follows a bank employee cursed after denying an elderly customer’s loan request. It is fast, grotesque, inventive, and often funny in the way only Raimi’s films can be. The movie’s practical effects and aggressive sound design make it a good choice when the goal is to be entertained and unnerved rather than immersed in slow-burn realism.

Caveat: The PG-13 rating understates how unpleasant some of the bodily humor, demonic attacks, and jump scares may be for younger or sensitive viewers.

9. The Big Lebowski — best offbeat comedy

1998 · R · 117 minutes · crime comedy · arrived September 1 · Included with Prime

Jeff Bridges’ Jeff Lebowski, known as the Dude, is pulled into a kidnapping plot after being mistaken for a wealthier man with the same name. The Coen brothers build a shaggy detective story around bowling, misplaced aggression, eccentric side characters, and some of the most quotable dialogue in modern American comedy.

Caveat: Strong language, drug use, sexual references, and surreal violence make it an adult movie despite its relaxed, comic surface.

10. Red Eye — best short thriller

2005 · PG-13 · 85 minutes · thriller · arrived September 1 · Included with Prime

Wes Craven’s airport thriller wastes almost no time. A woman discovers during a flight that the man sitting beside her is part of a plot to assassinate a government official, and that her own family is being used as leverage. The compact setup, short runtime, and focused performances make it ideal when you want suspense without a two-hour commitment.

Caveat: It includes threats, violence, frightening situations, and language.

11. Nocturnal Animals — best psychological thriller

2016 · R · 116 minutes · psychological drama and thriller · arrived September 1 · Included with Prime

Tom Ford’s film moves between an art gallery owner’s present life and the manuscript of a violent novel sent by her former husband. The two stories gradually illuminate one another, producing an elegant but bleak examination of regret, revenge, emotional cruelty, and the stories people use to rewrite their past.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Caveat: This is a disturbing adult drama containing sexual violence, brutal attacks, grief, and sustained emotional cruelty.

12. Planes, Trains and Automobiles — best road comedy

1987 · R · 93 minutes · comedy · arrived September 1 · Included with Prime

Steve Martin and John Candy play two travelers whose attempt to get home for Thanksgiving becomes a chain of transportation disasters. The film is broad and deeply sincere at the same time, making it a reliable group choice when viewers want something funny that eventually earns its sentiment.

Caveat: The R rating reflects frequent strong language, including an extended outburst, so it is not a small-children recommendation.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

13. V for Vendetta — best political action film

2005 · R · 132 minutes · political action and dystopian thriller · arrived September 1 · Included with Prime

Set in a totalitarian future Britain, the film follows Evey, played by Natalie Portman, and the masked revolutionary V, played by Hugo Weaving. It combines a revenge thriller with questions about state power, propaganda, surveillance, and resistance.

Caveat: Its politics are deliberately provocative and its treatment of revolutionary violence is not uncomplicated. It also contains torture, violent imagery, language, and sexual material.

14. Hotel Artemis — best contained genre discovery

2018 · R · 94 minutes · crime and science-fiction thriller · arrived September 1 · Included with Prime

Jodie Foster plays the manager of a secret hospital for criminals in a near-future Los Angeles. When several dangerous patients arrive on the same night, the hotel’s rules begin to collapse. The film is stylish, compact, and full of recognizable actors, making it a good discovery pick for viewers who have already seen the more familiar September titles.

Caveat: Graphic violence, criminal activity, language, and drug references make it an adult watch.

15. Frida — best art-biography choice

2002 · R · 123 minutes · biographical drama · arrived September 1 · Included with Prime

Salma Hayek stars as Mexican painter Frida Kahlo in Julie Taymor’s visually imaginative account of Kahlo’s life, marriage to Diego Rivera, physical pain, political commitments, and artistic development. It is as interested in the construction of an artistic identity as it is in the chronology of Kahlo’s biography.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Caveat: The film contains sexual content, nudity, language, drug use, and depictions of illness and physical suffering.

16. The Motorcycle Diaries — best international drama

2004 · R · 126 minutes · biographical road drama · arrived September 1 · Included with Prime

Walter Salles’ film follows the young Ernesto Guevara and his friend Alberto Granado on a motorcycle journey across South America. The trip’s landscapes and encounters gradually broaden Guevara’s understanding of poverty, inequality, and political responsibility. It works both as a coming-of-age road movie and as a portrait of a continent.

Caveat: It includes mature themes, illness, poverty, sexual material, and some disturbing encounters.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

17. Army of Darkness — best cult horror-comedy

1992 · R · approximately 81 minutes · fantasy horror comedy · arrived September 1 · Included with Prime

Ash is thrown into the Middle Ages and must retrieve the Necronomicon while battling an army of the dead. Sam Raimi’s third Evil Dead film replaces much of the second film’s claustrophobic horror with slapstick, stop-motion monsters, one-liners, and gleefully absurd medieval adventure.

Caveat: The film contains cartoonishly graphic violence, horror imagery, sexual references, and language. Its exact runtime can vary slightly by catalog edition.

18. Crimson Peak — best gothic horror

2015 · R · 119 minutes · gothic romance and horror · arrived September 1 · Included with Prime

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Guillermo del Toro’s lavish ghost story sends a young writer to a decaying English mansion after her marriage to a mysterious aristocrat. The ghosts are frightening, but the film’s real pleasures are its production design, costumes, tragic romance, and storybook atmosphere.

Caveat: Graphic deaths, blood, sexual content, incestuous themes, and disturbing supernatural imagery make this an adult horror selection.

19. Runaway Train — best overlooked drama

1985 · R · 111 minutes · action drama · arrived September 1 · Included with Prime

Two escaped prisoners board a train that loses its crew and accelerates through the Alaskan wilderness. Jon Voight and Eric Roberts give the film its emotional center, while the runaway train becomes a physical expression of freedom, desperation, and the impossibility of stopping once a life has been set in motion.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Caveat: The film contains violence, language, peril, and bleak subject matter.

20. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles — best nostalgic family option

1990 · PG · 93 minutes · comic-book action · arrived September 1 · Included with Prime

The original live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie has a grittier tone than many viewers remember. It follows the turtles, Splinter, April O’Neil, and Casey Jones in a story involving the Foot Clan and the rise of Shredder. The practical costumes and darker urban atmosphere give it a distinctive place in the franchise.

Caveat: Martial-arts violence, weapons, threatening villains, and a darker tone mean that it is better for older children and teenagers than for very young viewers.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Best movies by genre and mood

Comedy

  • Galaxy Quest: the most accessible choice for a mixed group.
  • Election: the sharpest and most politically pointed satire.
  • The Big Lebowski: the best choice for oddball dialogue and cult-comedy energy.
  • Planes, Trains and Automobiles: the warmest road comedy.
  • Army of Darkness: the shortest, strangest horror-comedy.

Action and science fiction

  • Dredd: brutal, focused action in a confined setting.
  • V for Vendetta: a longer dystopian political thriller.
  • Hotel Artemis: stylish near-future crime fiction.
  • Constantine: supernatural comic-book action with a darker atmosphere.

Horror

  • Drag Me to Hell: fast supernatural scares with grotesque humor.
  • Crimson Peak: gothic romance and elaborate visual design.
  • Bram Stoker’s Dracula: heightened, operatic vampire horror.
  • Army of Darkness: horror played primarily for laughs.
  • The Invisible Man: a classic Universal monster film and a short watch.

Drama

  • In the Name of the Father: the most powerful legal and historical drama.
  • The Motorcycle Diaries: a reflective international road movie.
  • Revolutionary Road: an intense portrait of marital dissatisfaction.
  • Frida: an art-biography with a strong visual identity.
  • Rumble Fish: a stylized coming-of-age crime drama.

Thrillers

  • Red Eye: the most efficient option at 85 minutes.
  • Nocturnal Animals: the bleakest psychological choice.
  • The Usual Suspects: a twist-driven crime mystery.
  • Basic Instinct: an adult erotic thriller.
  • Cape Fear: a heavier psychological revenge thriller.

Family viewing

  • Paddington 2: the safest all-ages comfort movie.
  • Puss in Boots: The Last Wish: the most energetic family adventure.
  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: suitable for older children who can handle action violence.

Do not treat every animated, nostalgic, or broadly comic title as children’s entertainment. Dredd, Drag Me to Hell, Crimson Peak, Basic Instinct, The Usual Suspects, and Nocturnal Animals are adult-oriented. In the Name of the Father is R-rated and deals directly with imprisonment, torture, political violence, and injustice. In the Heights is PG-13 and lasts 143 minutes, so it may be better for older children and teenagers than for younger viewers.

Best movies if you have only 90 minutes

For a short evening, start with Red Eye at approximately 85 minutes. It is the strongest conventional thriller under 90 minutes in this lineup. Army of Darkness runs approximately 81 minutes, depending on the catalog edition, and is the best choice if you want absurd horror-comedy. For classic cinema, Duck Soup is approximately 69 minutes and The Invisible Man from 1933 is approximately 71 minutes.

Galaxy Quest and Election are just over the 90-minute mark at approximately 104 and 103 minutes, respectively, but both remain efficient group-watch choices. Runtime metadata can vary slightly between Prime Video listings and other databases, so use the title page for the final figure.

New movies added during September 2024

The biggest arrival wave was September 1, when a large group of catalog films was added. Later arrivals made the month more useful for family viewing and recent releases. The dates below are the U.S. schedule reported by contemporaneous September coverage; they should not be merged with schedules from other countries.

Snack Shack is a raunchy coming-of-age comedy with an approximately 112-minute runtime and an R rating. It is a reasonable discovery pick for adults who want a newer, less familiar title. The American Society of Magical Negroes is a satirical fantasy comedy with a PG-13 rating and an approximately 105-minute runtime; it was a divisive or underseen release rather than an automatic critical recommendation.

Colette is a 2018 R-rated biographical drama running approximately 112 minutes. Everybody Wants Some!! is a 2016 R-rated comedy running approximately 117 minutes. Neither is as essential a first click as Galaxy Quest or Paddington 2, but both add variety to the later September schedule. The complete schedule should be cross-checked against Rotten Tomatoes’ September streaming calendar, Keith Loves Movies’ U.S. schedule, and TechRadar’s September list. These outlets sometimes grouped Prime Video and Freevee differently, which is why a long catalog list should not be treated as a guarantee that every title was included with Prime.

Prime Originals and Amazon exclusives already worth watching

A monthly arrivals list is not the same thing as a list of the best movies available to a subscriber. The following films were already established Prime Video headline titles by September 2024 rather than September additions. They belong in a broader best-movies guide, but they should not be confused with new arrivals.

Movie Year and format Why watch Caveat
Road House 2024 · R · action Jake Gyllenhaal leads a high-energy remake about a former UFC fighter hired to clean up a Florida Keys bar. Violent, profane, and intentionally pulpy.
The Idea of You 2024 · R · romance Anne Hathaway and Nicholas Galitzine star in a polished romance about an older woman and a much younger pop singer. Contains sexual material, language, and relationship complications.
Saltburn 2023 · R · psychological drama A darkly comic story of class, desire, privilege, and obsession centered on a student invited to a wealthy family’s estate. Sexual content, nudity, disturbing behavior, and violence.
Air 2023 · R · sports-business drama Ben Affleck’s energetic account of Nike’s pursuit of Michael Jordan and the creation of the Air Jordan deal. Language and business-focused adult themes; less a sports film than a negotiation drama.
The Burial 2023 · R · courtroom drama Jamie Foxx and Tommy Lee Jones play opposing and allied figures in a legal fight involving a funeral-home business. Language and mature legal subject matter.
Red, White & Royal Blue 2023 · R · romantic comedy A warm, glossy romance about the son of the U.S. president and a British prince. Sexual content, language, and political fantasy.

Amazon’s July 2024 Prime Video redesign announcement specifically used films including Road House and The Idea of You when describing the Prime experience. Amazon’s release coverage for Road House and its Prime Video interface announcement provide useful historical context.

American Fiction is not included in the core list here because historical inclusion in the U.S. Prime catalog during September 2024 needs to be independently confirmed. A current or later Amazon listing cannot prove that it was included during that particular month.

How to avoid paying extra for a supposedly included movie

  1. Search for the film in the U.S. Prime Video catalog.
  2. Look for the Included with Prime wording or Prime membership indicator.
  3. Do not rely on the fact that the title appears in the Prime Video app. Search results can include rentals, purchases, channels, and Freevee.
  4. Exclude any title whose card says Rent, Buy, Subscribe, or names an add-on channel unless you deliberately want that option.
  5. If the title is marked Freevee, understand that it is free with advertising but is not the same as being included in the paid Prime membership.
  6. For a historical article, use dated September 2024 schedules rather than a current title page. A film available in 2026 may not have been available in September 2024, and a film announced for September may have left before the end of the month.

Amazon’s July 2024 interface update introduced a dedicated Prime destination for content available at no additional cost to members. Amazon also said that Prime and add-on subscription logos would appear on title cards, while content requiring extra payment would show a shopping-bag indicator. The exact interface can change, but those labels illustrate the distinction a subscriber needs to make.

Prime Video’s historical September 2024 pricing and advertising context

Amazon’s September 2024 materials listed U.S. Prime membership at $14.99 per month or $139 per year. Those are historical prices, not current pricing. Prime Video also introduced limited advertisements in the U.S. in early 2024, with Amazon announcing a separate ad-free option for an additional $2.99 per month at that time. These details matter only as context for the September 2024 snapshot; they should not be used as present-day subscription information.

For the historical announcement and title context, see Amazon’s fall 2024 Prime Video material and its announcement about limited ads.

Why September lists disagree

There are three common reasons for discrepancies:

  • Prime versus Freevee classification: Some large lists combine both services. TechRadar’s broad list, for example, included titles that Tom’s Guide and Rotten Tomatoes separately identified as Freevee.
  • Regional schedules: A U.S. arrival date cannot be replaced with an Australian, British, Canadian, or Indian date. Amazon Australia’s September 2024 list placed Hotel Artemis on September 25, while U.S. sources placed it among the September 1 additions. That is a regional difference, not necessarily an error.
  • Volatile licensing: A film may arrive on a particular date, leave later, or appear in a different access tier. Current catalog pages are not historical evidence.

For that reason, this article treats availability confidence as part of the recommendation. Titles listed by multiple contemporaneous U.S. sources with a specific date receive the highest confidence. Titles appearing in only one list, under a general Amazon Video page, or only as a current listing should be treated more cautiously.

The Amazon Australia schedule is useful for demonstrating regional variation, but it is not evidence of U.S. availability.

Final decision guide

  • Choose Galaxy Quest for the best all-around movie and the safest group recommendation.
  • Choose In the Name of the Father for a powerful, historically grounded drama.
  • Choose Election for sharp political comedy with an especially appropriate September 2024 context.
  • Choose In the Heights for a large-scale musical, provided you have time for its 143-minute runtime.
  • Choose Puss in Boots: The Last Wish or Paddington 2 for family viewing.
  • Choose Dredd for intense science-fiction action.
  • Choose Drag Me to Hell for supernatural horror.
  • Choose Red Eye when you want a compact thriller.
  • Choose Hotel Artemis, Runaway Train, Frida, or The Motorcycle Diaries when you want something less obvious than the recurring headline picks.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are these movies still available on Amazon Prime Video?

Not necessarily. This guide documents the U.S. Prime Video catalog during September 2024, not the current 2026 catalog. Prime Video licensing changes by date and country, so check each title in the app before watching.

Does Freevee count as being included with Prime?

No. Freevee is free, ad-supported viewing and does not require a Prime membership. It may appear inside the Prime Video app, but it is a different access category from a movie marked Included with Prime.

Why do September 2024 Prime Video lists have different movies and dates?

Some publications combined Prime Video with Freevee, while others used different catalog metadata. Regional schedules also differ. For example, U.S. sources listed Hotel Artemis among the September 1 additions, while Amazon Australia listed it on September 25.

What is the best family movie from the September 2024 lineup?

Paddington 2 is the safest all-ages choice. Puss in Boots: The Last Wish is the better choice for a more energetic adventure, but it contains frightening imagery and action peril. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is better suited to older children because of its violence and darker tone.

What is the best Prime movie under 90 minutes?

Red Eye runs approximately 85 minutes and is the best short conventional thriller. Army of Darkness runs approximately 81 minutes, while Duck Soup and the 1933 The Invisible Man are shorter classic alternatives. Runtime metadata can vary slightly by catalog edition.

The Bottom Line

For one choice, watch Galaxy Quest. It is the most broadly satisfying movie in the U.S. Prime-included September 2024 lineup. Choose Paddington 2 or Puss in Boots: The Last Wish for family viewing, In the Name of the Father for serious drama, Dredd for action, and Drag Me to Hell for horror. Remember that this is a September 2024 historical snapshot: Prime Video, Freevee, rental, purchase, and channel availability can all be different now.
