Spotify Premium Price Increases: UK and Australia Prices Now

Spotify’s reported UK price increases and its 2025 international price updates are no longer upcoming. UK Individual, Duo and Family rates reportedly rose in October 2025; Spotify’s Australian Premium page currently lists Individual at A$15.99, Duo at A$22.99, Family at A$27.99 and Student at A$7.99 a month. The amount and date on your own bill depend on your country, plan and billing arrangement, so check your account and any Spotify price-change email.

What changed, and when?

On August 4, 2025, Spotify announced Premium price updates across multiple markets in Europe, South Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Latin America and Asia-Pacific. Its announcement did not give a complete list of affected countries or a full country-by-country price table. UK coverage followed in October 2025, while the Australian figures below are the prices currently listed by Spotify—not a complete before-and-after table. Separately, Spotify announced a price increase for the United States, Estonia and Latvia on January 15, 2026. These were distinct updates, not one worldwide change with a single start date. UK: reported monthly plan prices

MoneySavingExpert reported that the new UK prices applied to existing subscribers from their next billing date after October 22, 2025. The figures below are secondary reporting rather than a publicly surfaced Spotify newsroom price table; check your account or billing email for the rate attached to your subscription.

These are current public prices, not a sourced historical price comparison for every Australian plan. Your charge may differ if you have a promotion or are billed through a partner. See Spotify Premium Australia for the live offer and plan terms.

Other markets: no complete public country list

Spotify’s August 2025 notice named broad regions and said subscribers in multiple markets would be affected. It did not establish that every country in those regions received an increase. The January 2026 notice separately named the US, Estonia and Latvia. For any other country, use the local Spotify Premium page and account notice rather than inferring a change from the region alone.

When will the higher price appear on your bill?

There is no single effective date for every subscriber. Spotify’s Australian support guidance says affected subscribers are emailed and generally receive a one-month grace period before the new rate applies. Trial users receive one month at the original price after their trial ends. Your first higher payment depends on your billing date; for the reported UK update, it was the next billing date after October 22, 2025. Spotify’s Australian price-update guidance

1. Go to your Spotify account page and check the active plan and next billing date.
2. Search your email for Spotify’s price-change notice and check the stated amount and start date.
3. Compare that information with the local Premium page. A trial, promotion or account-specific offer may not match the standard public price.
4. If a third party—such as Apple, a mobile carrier or another partner—bills you, check that provider’s subscription settings and terms. Its price and cancellation process may differ.

For Duo or Family, the plan manager is generally the person who manages the subscription and billing. Make sure that person checks the account before the renewal.

Why does Spotify say prices are changing?

Spotify’s public explanation is that periodic price updates help it continue innovating, provide audio content and deliver a personalized experience. At its May 2026 investor day, the company also discussed pricing as part of its monetization strategy and referred to investment in features and products. Those statements do not show that a particular increase was specifically caused by licensing fees, artist payments, inflation or audiobooks; Spotify’s cited explanation is broader. 2025 pricing announcement · 2026 investor-day remarks

Spotify expanded audiobook options in several markets in July 2025, including the UK and Australia. Audiobook access and allowances depend on plan terms and account role, so it may affect how valuable a plan feels—but its launch is not proof that audiobooks caused the price increase. Ways to reduce the bill—or leave without losing your library

• Check household use. If fewer people use Duo or Family, compare the total against the cost of the appropriate individual plans. Divide the plan price by the number of active members to understand the per-person cost.
• Check Student eligibility. Student plans can cost less, but eligibility rules and prices vary by country. The reported UK Student price did not change in this update; do not assume the same applies elsewhere.
• Look for a Basic tier. A lower-priced Basic plan may suit someone who does not use audiobooks, but availability is market- and account-dependent. Compare the included features before switching.
• Use Spotify Free. Spotify’s Australian guidance says saved tracks, playlists and podcasts remain accessible on its ad-supported service, but Premium features are removed. Offline Premium downloads will no longer be available once Premium ends.
• Cancel before renewal if you decide to leave. Use the billing date shown in your account, or the billing partner’s settings if that partner manages the subscription. The account and library generally remain available on Free, subject to Free-tier limits.
• Check gift-card restrictions. Spotify’s Australian guidance says gift cards can be redeemed only for Premium Individual.

Before switching services, compare the features you actually use: family and student options, offline listening, audio quality, audiobook access, device support and playlist migration. Check vendors’ official local pages for current prices; prices from different countries should not be compared by currency conversion alone. Spotify says its plans and pricing vary by market in its 2025 annual filing.
