“Spider-Man 4” is the shorthand most readers use for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Sony’s official title for Tom Holland’s fourth film as Spider-Man. The film is no longer upcoming. Sony lists a general release of July 31, 2026, and digital availability from October 6, 2026, through retailers including Prime Video. Earlier coverage framed it as a list of things “we know” before release; the facts below reflect the film as it now stands.
1. The official title is Spider-Man: Brand New Day
Sony’s title carries no number. “Spider-Man 4” describes the film’s place in Holland’s run of Spider-Man movies, which Sony identifies as the fourth. When you search for or cite the film, use the full official title to avoid confusion with other Spider-Man releases.
2. It is in theaters history and on digital platforms now
The release dates below are the ones Sony publishes. Digital availability is listed by retailer, and catalogues can differ by country.

To buy or rent, check the listing on the retailer in your own country, since the title’s availability and pricing are set regionally. Sony’s page also includes a playback note: 4K HDR playback calls for a 4K UHD HDR television, an Ultra HD Blu-ray player and high-speed HDMI 2.0A cables. That note describes equipment for 4K HDR playback. It does not show that a disc is on sale, and it is not required to watch the digital version.

3. The story starts four years after No Way Home
Sony’s FAQ places the story four years after Spider-Man: No Way Home. In Sony’s account, a spell cast by Doctor Strange has left the world with no memory of Peter Parker. He is now fighting crime full-time while his old friends move on, and watching that happen sparks a change he may not be able to control. Sony connects that change to a powerful unseen threat to the city and to the people Peter loves. The official material does not go further, so the identity and motives of that threat are not established here.
4. Holland’s return comes with a cast built around Peter’s past
Sony’s cast list includes Tom Holland, Zendaya, Sadie Sink, Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Tramell Tillman, Michael Mando and Mark Ruffalo. Sony’s character list names:

6. The opening-weekend and trailer figures
Sony Group Corporation’s corporate blog, dated August 4, 2026, reports a $360 million domestic opening weekend and a $932 million global opening weekend. These are studio-reported figures published by Sony, not numbers compiled by an independent box-office tracker.
The Associated Press, reporting from CinemaCon in April 2026, said the film’s trailer passed 1 billion views in its first four days. AP reported that count as stated; it is not an independently audited figure.

7. What Holland said about the film at CinemaCon
At CinemaCon in April 2026, Tom Holland described the film to The Associated Press as “the most emotional Spider-Man movie yet” and “the most grown-up.” Those remarks were promotional, made at a theater-owner event before the film opened, and should be read in that context.
