The nine-episode first season premiered in November 2025; Apple ordered a second season before that launch, but no season-two premiere date has been announced in the reporting available as of September 30, 2026.
What is Pluribus about?
Apple’s official tagline is: “The most miserable person on Earth must save the world from happiness.” Carol Sturka is a cynical romance novelist whose unexplained immunity leaves her outside a transformation affecting almost everyone else. A mysterious virus has turned humanity into a connected consciousness marked by purposeful serenity.
The premise is intentionally presented here without later-story revelations. Karolina Wydra plays Zosia, an ambassador to the collective consciousness Apple calls “The Others.” The series’ central tension comes from Carol confronting a world that regards its new condition as desirable while she remains separate from it.
Why Vince Gilligan created it
In a TIME interview published October 27, 2025, Gilligan described the question that sparked the show: “What if everyone in the world got along? And, specifically, what if everyone in the world was suddenly really, really nice to me personally?” The series turns that seemingly positive thought experiment into a science-fiction conflict.

Where can you watch Pluribus?
Apple lists Pluribus as streaming on Apple TV, its exclusive streaming home. Availability and subscription terms can vary by territory and change over time, so viewers should check the Apple TV app or local Apple listing before subscribing. The series is rated TV-MA. The available official listings do not provide a complete episode-by-episode content advisory, so the rating should not be read as a more specific warning.

At the September 2026 Emmys, Gilligan said the second season was “not technically all written.” He explained that the writers had worked out the plot for all episodes, completed the first two scripts and had the remaining scripts at different stages. This is a writing-progress update, not confirmation that filming has started.
No season-two premiere date has been established in the sources available as of September 30, 2026.
