Parvati Shallow and David Genat described a genuine bond and a trusting strategic alliance on Deal or No Deal Island. Shallow called Genat her number-one ally, and Genat said their relationship developed into “total trust.” Their interviews support a close connection in the competition; they do not confirm that the two were dating off the show.
What Parvati said about her bond with David
In a TV Insider interview, Shallow said she kept Genat’s history on Survivor quiet because she thought the other contestants might target him if they knew. She also explained why she trusted him: when their plans and relationship were tested, he followed through.

How David described the alliance
Genat said he and Shallow recognized each other’s strategic experience and understood that each needed a trustworthy partner to advance. In an interview with Parade published January 7, 2025, he recalled thinking, “I knew we could trust each other.”

He also recalled Shallow helping calm him when he was weighing whether to reveal his Survivor identity. Together, their comments portray an alliance that included personal reassurance as well as strategic cooperation.

Does “real” mean they were romantically involved?
The interviews establish that Shallow and Genat regarded their game relationship as real: they trusted one another, relied on each other, and worked together. They do not establish that the pair were a romantic couple away from the show. The available accounts are about their connection and decisions in the competition, so a claim that they were dating would go beyond what those sources confirm.

An AOL headline describes Shallow explaining how real her relationship with David was, but the surfaced search-result excerpt containing “No, guys, that was real” followed a question about her relationship with CK, not Genat. The AOL page was unavailable to verify directly, so that line should not be presented as proof of what Shallow said about David. The clearer evidence comes from the opened interviews, in which both contestants discuss trust and their alliance in the game.
