Spoiler-safe hints for Connections #380

Connections answers for Tuesday, June 25, 2024

Spoilers below: The 16 tiles were UNKNOWN, FORMULA, DOORKNOB, KNIFE, TALK, FORK, RECIPE, DISH, TOPKNOT, PART, TELL, SECRET, SPLIT, TICKET, BRANCH, and SPILL.

Color Theme Words
Yellow Divulge, as private information DISH, SPILL, TALK, TELL
Green Divide BRANCH, FORK, PART, SPLIT
Blue Silent “K” DOORKNOB, KNIFE, TOPKNOT, UNKNOWN
Purple Key to success, so to speak FORMULA, RECIPE, SECRET, TICKET

Why the categories can be tricky

Some words can point toward more than one possible grouping, so a tile that seems obvious may fit better elsewhere. The blue group is about spelling and pronunciation: each word contains a silent K. Purple is less literal; a formula, recipe, secret, or ticket can each represent a means of achieving success. If the board feels stuck, shuffling the tiles can make potential links easier to spot.
