Released July 17, 2025, it appears as track three on the 24-track soundtrack. It is not the end-credits song: Disney’s production notes identify “Who Wants to Live Forever?” as the track played during the credits.
What is the Nine Inch Nails song in the TRON: Ares trailer?
The song is “As Alive As You Need Me To Be,” the first single from Nine Inch Nails’ original motion picture soundtrack for TRON: Ares. Universal Music Canada announced its release on July 17, 2025, and said it was featured in the film’s trailer. The announcement also called it the first official new music from the band in five years; that is the label’s description of the release, rather than an independently measured statistic. Universal Music Canada’s announcement includes listening and visualizer links.
When did the song and soundtrack come out?
The single arrived July 17, 2025. The full soundtrack followed on September 19, 2025. Universal Music Canada identifies Interscope Records for the soundtrack release; Disney UK identifies Polydor Records for the UK release. The dates and label details refer to those announced releases, not a claim about availability in every territory or service. Universal Music Canada and Disney UK provide the release information.
Is it the TRON: Ares end-credits song?
No. “As Alive As You Need Me To Be” is the trailer song and track three on the soundtrack. Disney’s 2025 production notes say “Who Wants to Live Forever?” plays during the end credits. The notes list 24 tracks and identify “As Alive As You Need Me To Be” as a vocal track. Disney’s TRON: Ares production notes give the track and credits details.

How does the song fit the film’s sound?
The soundtrack announcement describes a score built from pulsating synths, distorted textures and haunting melodies, with no orchestral music. Director Joachim Rønning explained the intended direction in Disney’s production notes: “I wanted to create a grittier feel for this instalment. And when Nine Inch Nails came on board, it completed that vision.” The sound design and the song’s placement connect the soundtrack to the film’s darker electronic approach, rather than presenting the single as a standalone end-credits cue. The soundtrack announcement and Disney’s production notes describe that context.

The official Nine Inch Nails store lists the full soundtrack as a 180-gram 2LP, not as a single-only vinyl release. The standard edition listing says the album runs over 70 minutes. The store also lists an exclusive red swirl 2LP with different cover artwork and a poster. These are official product listings; current stock and pricing can change.
