The biggest announcements
The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom
For the first time in the series, Zelda is the playable hero. A strange rift threatens Hyrule, and Zelda teams up with the fairy Tri to rescue people who have been taken—including a swordsman. Her Tri Rod can create “echoes,” copies of objects and creatures found in the world. Nintendo showed Zelda making water blocks to climb, using beds as bridges, throwing rocks and summoning monster echoes to fight. Nintendo announced a September 26, 2024 release for Switch. Nintendo Australia’s announcement has more detail on the reveal.
Mario & Luigi: Brothership
The brothers return in a new RPG set across the islands of Concordia. They travel aboard Shipshape Island, which is both a ship and an island, using Bros. Moves to get past obstacles and Bros. Attacks in turn-based battles. Nintendo announced November 7, 2024 as the Switch release date. Nintendo UK’s recap lists the announced date alongside other launch information.
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond
Nintendo showed the first gameplay glimpse of Samus Aran’s new mission and announced a 2025 release window for Switch. The Direct did not provide a more specific date in the cited announcement. Nintendo Australia’s event announcement describes the reveal.
