Update: August 18, 2026. The New Year’s Eve broadcasts discussed here took place on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, leading into Thursday, January 1, 2026. They are no longer live, but official replays and archived event pages remain available for some cities.
For traditional landmark fireworks, start with Sydney or London. For the iconic U.S. countdown, use the official Times Square webcast archive—but expect a ball drop, performances, confetti and pyrotechnic effects rather than a large standalone fireworks show.

Sydney: the most complete fireworks replay
Sydney’s official coverage was a full New Year’s Eve program rather than a short midnight clip. ABC iview’s event page organizes the broadcast into segments including Welcome to NYE, Calling Country Fireworks, a live concert from the Sydney Opera House, Countdown to Midnight, Midnight Fireworks and Auld Lang Syne.
The City of Sydney program began with live broadcast coverage at 8:45 p.m. AEDT. The 9 p.m. Calling Country fireworks were followed by Sydney Harbour Lights at 9:15 p.m., a Beyond Blue moment at 10 p.m., a Moment of Unity at 11 p.m. and the main fireworks at midnight. The midnight display used launch points including the Harbour Bridge, Sydney Opera House and other landmarks. The city said more than nine tonnes of fireworks were launched.

For the standalone midnight segment, use the ABC iview Midnight Fireworks episode. The City of Sydney’s verified YouTube video is another official replay route.
ABC iview is free to use, but an ABC account may be required and some programs are restricted by location or rights. The ABC’s event listing instructed viewers to create an account to stream on iview. Availability can also expire or change; Freeview Australia listed the catch-up episodes with an expiry date of December 31, 2026.
New York City: watch the Times Square Ball Drop
The official Times Square webcast ran from 6 p.m. until approximately 12:15 a.m. Eastern Time. It was promoted as a free, commercial-free webcast and was distributed through TimesSquareNYC.org and partner platforms including YouTube, Facebook and X.

This is not best described as a New York fireworks stream. The centerpiece was the raising and lighting of the Times Square Ball, followed by performances and appearances, the midnight countdown, the ball drop, confetti and special pyrotechnic effects. Viewers expecting Sydney- or London-style citywide fireworks should choose one of those broadcasts instead.

The official Times Square pages also listed open captions and an ASL-interpreted stream. Whether those options remain attached to an archived 2025 video depends on the platform and the page currently serving it. The official schedule and Times Square FAQ provide additional historical details. NBC New York’s 2025 coverage page is useful supporting coverage, but its player is not guaranteed to remain a full replay.
London: the River Thames fireworks replay
The Mayor of London’s official event ran from 8 p.m. GMT on December 31, 2025, until 12:30 a.m. GMT on January 1, 2026. Its main spectacle was the ticketed fireworks display around the River Thames, with viewing areas on both sides of the river.

Watch the BBC’s verified YouTube coverage for the most direct replay option. Use the London City Hall event page for the official event details and attendance rules. The main viewing areas required tickets; the published prices ranged from £20 to £55 depending on the area and London resident discount.

The cities crossed into 2026 at different moments. Sydney reached midnight first, followed by London, then New York. The following U.S. conversions use Eastern Time and refer to the 2025 event date.

For viewers in the United States, that means Sydney’s midnight replay represents the earliest celebration, London’s arrives later the same day, and New York’s countdown is last. “New Year’s Eve 2025” refers to December 31, 2025; the midnight moment welcomed January 1, 2026.

Are the replays free?
The original Sydney coverage, Times Square webcast and public BBC YouTube coverage were offered online without a paid television subscription. That does not guarantee permanent or worldwide access to every replay. Broadcasters can impose regional restrictions, require accounts, insert advertising or remove videos when rights expire.
ABC iview is the most likely of the three to require an account or Australian access. Times Square’s original webcast was browser- and mobile-accessible. A public BBC YouTube video generally does not require a YouTube account, although playback, age, regional or platform restrictions can still apply.
If an official video will not play
- Refresh the official event or replay page.
- Open the broadcaster’s verified YouTube channel if an embedded player is blank.
- Temporarily test with ad blockers or strict tracking protection disabled.
- Try another browser or the broadcaster’s official mobile app.
- Check whether the video is restricted in your country.
- Use an archive or replay page rather than a landing page designed only for the live event.
Avoid unofficial “free stream” sites that request payment details, cryptocurrency, browser notifications, software downloads or unknown extensions. For an archived event, a missing video may simply mean the rights or hosting window has ended—not that another site is a legitimate replacement.
