Yes—Netflix lets you save and share short scenes from eligible titles using its mobile app. While streaming a movie or episode on an Android phone or tablet, iPhone, or iPad, tap the in-player Clip control, adjust the start and end points, and save the Moment. Clips can be up to two minutes long; saved Moments are available from My Netflix. The feature does not create a general-purpose video file for export.
What is Netflix Moments?
Netflix Moments is an in-app way to mark a scene in a film or series so you can return to it or share it. Netflix introduced the feature in 2024 under the name Moments. In the current workflow, the playback control is called Clip: select a short portion of a title, save it, then revisit or share it from the Netflix app.

A saved Moment is not the same as downloading a movie or episode for offline viewing. Netflix’s instructions describe saving, replaying, and sharing Moments in the app; they do not describe exporting an unrestricted MP4 or other standalone video file. The recipient’s experience depends on the share option Netflix and your phone provide, so do not assume the action sends a playable video into someone’s camera roll.

- Open the Netflix app on an Android phone or tablet, iPhone, or iPad.
- Stream an eligible movie or TV episode and pause or watch until the scene you want appears.
- Tap the video to show the playback controls, then tap Clip.
- Set the beginning and end of the segment. Keep it within the two-minute maximum.
- Tap Save.
- Open My Netflix and find the saved Moment. Use the share control beside or beneath it.
- Choose a destination from the sharing options available on your device, such as a messaging or social app.
Netflix’s interface can change between app versions and languages, so the control’s placement or appearance may differ. Look for the in-player Clip control rather than relying on a particular icon position.

Where saved Moments appear
Find saved Moments in the My Netflix tab, where you can replay them or start the sharing flow. Check the same Netflix profile you used when saving one; Netflix’s help instructions identify My Netflix as the place to rewatch saved Moments, but do not promise that Moments are shared across every profile on an account.
This is separate from the Downloads area. In particular, Moments is not a way to cut a clip from a downloaded title: Netflix lists downloaded movies and shows among the playback that cannot be clipped.

For the supported mobile platforms and content restrictions, see Netflix’s help page for clipping a moment. If you want to make a Moment while watching on a TV or computer, use a supported phone or tablet for the documented workflow instead.

A Moment can be no longer than two minutes. Netflix’s September 2025 update added the ability to adjust both the start and end of a selection, rather than saving only a point in playback. That gives you control over a shorter or longer excerpt within the cap—not permission to export a scene of arbitrary length. See Netflix Tudum’s update on Moments.

What can’t you clip?
Netflix’s help documentation excludes:
- Live events
- Trailers
- Downloaded TV shows and movies
- Netflix games
If Clip is missing, the title or playback mode may be ineligible. The feature is documented for the Netflix mobile app, not for browser or TV playback. An old app version or availability differences may also be worth checking, but Netflix’s help page does not identify those as the cause in every case.
Netflix Moments and the newer Clips feed are different
The names are easy to mix up. Moments is the feature for selecting a scene from something you are watching and saving or sharing it. Netflix’s separate Clips mobile discovery experience, announced in 2026, is a vertical feed of short videos intended to help people find titles and entertainment. It is not the tool for clipping a scene from your current playback. Netflix describes the discovery feature in its mobile announcement.

Troubleshooting: no Clip control or missing Moment
The Clip control does not appear
- Confirm that you are using the Netflix app on an Android phone/tablet, iPhone, or iPad—not a browser or TV app.
- Tap the video to reveal the player controls.
- Check that you are streaming a movie or episode, not watching a trailer, live event, downloaded title, or Netflix game.
- Update the Netflix app and check again. This is a practical troubleshooting step, not a Netflix-documented requirement for every case.
- If the control is still absent, availability may depend on the title, playback mode, country, or app build. Netflix’s help page does not guarantee the control for every title or region.
A saved Moment is hard to find
Open My Netflix in the profile that created it. Moments are saved in the Netflix experience; they are not ordinary downloads in the device’s video library.

Choose an option from your phone’s share sheet. Netflix describes sharing from the app, not a universal video-export process. A share may lead to a Netflix-linked or app-mediated experience; do not expect every recipient or destination to receive a standalone clip file.

When Moments is useful—and its limits
Moments is handy when you want to revisit a funny line, a performance, a reveal, or a compact sequence without remembering its timestamp, or when you want to point a friend toward a scene. The two-minute cap can be too short for an extended sequence, and the feature’s app-based sharing is less portable than a regular video file. Add a spoiler warning before sharing scenes from mysteries, finales, or newly released episodes.
