The deal does not launch live TV worldwide, and TF1 programming on Netflix includes advertising.
What Netflix and TF1 agreed to
Announced on June 17, 2025, the deal is a distribution and integration partnership—not an acquisition or a replacement of TF1+. It brings TF1 Group’s linear channels and TF1+ programming into Netflix for members in France, using Netflix’s browsing and recommendation environment. Netflix said the content would be available as part of members’ existing subscriptions. Netflix’s announcement described a summer 2026 rollout; the service became available on June 19, 2026, according to the launch announcement.

These examples do not mean every TF1 program or sporting event is available on demand. Live schedules, replay windows and sports rights are specific to programs and territories. Netflix’s launch notice specifically says the 2026 FIFA World Cup is not part of the named sports offering. See Netflix’s launch details.
Does it cost extra, and will there be ads?
Netflix described access as part of the existing Netflix subscription for members in France; its announcement did not identify a separate TF1 fee or a change to Netflix plan prices. It also does not establish that every TF1+ feature is reproduced inside Netflix.
Expect advertising while watching TF1 content, even if the Netflix plan itself is otherwise ad-free. Netflix France says TF1 programming is offered with advertising because advertising is central to TF1’s model. That does not mean the rest of the Netflix catalog becomes ad-supported. The precise ad experience may vary across live channels, replay and on-demand programs. Netflix France explains the integration and advertising model.

How the experience fits into Netflix
Netflix says TF1+ programming can be discovered through familiar features such as Continue Watching, My List and Top 10, alongside its recommendation and browsing experience. The interface has to accommodate more than a conventional on-demand title: a live channel follows a schedule, while replay and on-demand programs can be watched at different times.
The announcements do not provide a universal device-by-device compatibility list or exact navigation steps for televisions, set-top boxes, phones and browsers. They also do not confirm that every TF1+ replay function, download option or parental-control behavior works identically inside Netflix. Check the Netflix app on the device and account you intend to use rather than assuming feature parity.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Who can use the TF1 integration?
The announced availability is for Netflix members in France. It is not a U.S. launch or a worldwide live-TV package. A Netflix account registered outside France should not be assumed to include TF1, and a French subscriber travelling abroad may see different content because streaming rights are territorial. Netflix France described the partnership as a France test; it has not confirmed expansion elsewhere. Read Netflix France’s account of the test.

Device support, account location and rights for a particular program can affect access. A channel being present does not guarantee that every event carried by that channel is available in every territory. This partnership is not a general replacement for French broadcast television or a full pay-TV bundle.
Why this is Netflix’s first linear-channel integration—not its first live program
“First live TV channels” is the useful distinction: TF1 is Netflix’s first integration of traditional linear television channels into its service. It is not Netflix’s first live programming. Netflix had already streamed live events, including its Tudum event, and announced NASA+ live programming before the TF1 launch. Netflix’s Tudum recap and its NASA+ announcement document that earlier live programming.
What the partnership changes—and what remains open
For viewers in France who already use Netflix, the practical change is that selected TF1 live and on-demand programming can be found in the same service as Netflix titles. Viewers who want TF1-specific features or content beyond the integrated selection may still need TF1+ directly; Netflix has not said every TF1+ function or title is duplicated in its app. Traditional television providers remain an alternative for households seeking broader channel lineups or provider-specific TV features, though their lineups and terms vary.
Netflix and TF1 have framed the arrangement as complementary: Netflix adds French broadcast programming and more ways to discover it, while TF1 gains distribution through Netflix. The deal could be a test of whether a streaming service can combine linear channels with on-demand viewing, but that is an interpretation, not confirmation of a broader Netflix strategy. Netflix France says it may consider further partnerships after learning from this implementation; no additional broadcasters, channels or countries are confirmed.
