Coverage does not establish who created the audio, which tool produced it, or whether the clip was technically analyzed.
What did the TikTok claim?
The video opened by presenting itself as a niece’s day-in-the-life narrated by “Morgan Freeman.” Reports said the creator included an AI-related hashtag or disclosure. That label did not stop some viewers from reportedly believing the voice was Freeman’s. The incident was reported by Fox News on July 1, 2024 and Tech Times on July 2, 2024.
Those reports describe an AI-generated imitation, not an authentic Freeman recording. They do not provide forensic confirmation of the audio’s production or establish that Freeman recorded or authorized the narration.
What did Freeman say?
In a Facebook post quoted by Fox News, Freeman thanked people who alerted him to the clip and described the voice as an unauthorized AI imitation. He called it a “scam” and raised concerns about authenticity, integrity, and protecting identity. That was a public objection; the reporting does not establish a lawsuit, legal ruling, or platform takedown.

Why can a disclosed imitation still mislead?
Freeman’s voice is familiar to many listeners, and that familiarity can make synthetic narration feel credible. A disclosure may be overlooked, misunderstood, or lost when a clip is reposted. A polished voice or recognizable vocal style is not proof of who recorded the audio, and listeners cannot reliably identify every clone by ear.
The available reporting does not establish what samples, model, prompt, or production workflow were used for this TikTok. It also does not establish the number of viewers who believed the narration was genuine.

Was ElevenLabs used to make the clip?
That is not established. The Freeman coverage discusses voice-cloning concerns, while separate reporting describes misuse associated with ElevenLabs’ beta-era platform. That broader history does not show that ElevenLabs generated this particular TikTok. See Tech Times’ January 31, 2023 report.
“AI-generated voice imitation” is the most precise description of the reported TikTok. “Deepfake” is often used broadly for synthetic media, but this incident centered on audio narration, not a documented face swap or fully synthetic video.

Earlier reports involving Freeman’s likeness
Freeman’s voice and likeness had appeared in other synthetic-media incidents reported before the TikTok. Fox News described a fake-looking video sent to Lori McCreary, executive vice president of Freeman’s production company Revelations; she reportedly verified a video that appeared to show Freeman promoting a book by checking with a makeup artist. The same report referenced the 2021 demonstration video “This Is Not Morgan Freeman,” which showed an AI imitation of his appearance and voice. These were separate incidents and do not establish a connection to the TikTok creator or its software.
What harms can voice impersonation cause?
A fabricated voice can put words or endorsements in someone’s mouth, damage a reputation, or lend false credibility to a financial, charitable, political, or health-related pitch. Similar techniques can also support voice-based social engineering, such as an urgent request that appears to come from a relative, colleague, or executive. Even when a particular clip is labeled as synthetic, copies can circulate without context, making correction and removal difficult.

The concern extends beyond one actor: if a familiar voice can be imitated, audio alone becomes weaker evidence of identity. That does not mean every recording is fake; it means important claims should be verified through an independent channel.
How to check a celebrity voice clip
- Read the original post. Check its caption and any AI disclosure, and distinguish the creator’s claims from verified facts.
- Find the source rather than relying on a repost. Reposts may omit labels or context. Save the original post URL or screenshots if you may need to report it.
- Verify consequential claims independently. Look for confirmation on the person’s official accounts or from their representatives, especially when the clip promotes money, politics, health advice, or an urgent request.
- Listen and watch for clues, not proof. Unnatural timing, repeated vocal patterns, abrupt edits, or audio that seems detached from a speaker’s mouth may prompt scrutiny, but neither human judgment nor detection tools are guaranteed to catch a clone.
- Report impersonation in the app. Use TikTok’s in-app reporting tools and include the original URL or screenshots where possible.
What the reporting does—and does not—establish
The 2024 reports identify the TikTok format and quote Freeman’s objection, but they do not establish the creator’s identity, the generation tool, a technical analysis, the number of people misled, or whether TikTok took action. They also do not establish that Freeman or his representatives sought removal; Fox News reported that representatives had no further comment when contacted. Treat claims about the clip’s reach, software, or legal consequences accordingly.

Legal questions involving a person’s voice, likeness, publicity rights, copyright, false endorsement, and fraud depend on jurisdiction and facts. An AI label does not automatically settle whether a use is lawful, and a public objection is not itself a legal finding.
