LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian met in 2009 while both were married to other people. Their relationship became public amid controversy, their previous marriages ended over the following year, and they married in California on April 22, 2011. The latest public milestone in the reporting covered here is Rimes’s April 2025 post marking their 14th wedding anniversary; it does not independently confirm their status after that date.
LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian relationship timeline
2009: They meet while filming Northern Lights
Rimes and Cibrian met while working on the made-for-TV movie Northern Lights. ABC News reported in November 2010 that Rimes was married to Dean Sheremet and Cibrian was married to Brandi Glanville, with whom he had two children. ABC News’s account and later coverage place the relationship’s beginnings in that context.
2009: The relationship becomes public and previous marriages begin to end
Us Weekly’s timeline dates its report of the affair to March 2009. The dates of public reporting, separation, divorce filings, and final divorce decrees are not interchangeable: Us Weekly says Cibrian filed for divorce from Glanville in August 2009. ABC News’s 2011 wedding coverage described Glanville leaving Cibrian and Rimes leaving Sheremet after rumors surfaced. Us Weekly reports that Rimes and Sheremet reached a divorce settlement in late December 2009, while her divorce was finalized in June 2010.
In a November 2010 interview with ABC News, Rimes said, “What happened is not who I am, period. But I do know how much I love him. So I’ve always said I don’t live my life with regret. I can’t.” Cibrian described the relationship in the same interview: “The truth is that we’re human beings. … We make mistakes and we learn from them, but we’re human. We fell in love.” Those are their statements about the controversy, not a substitute for the documented chronology. ABC News, November 3, 2010.
