North West addressed criticism of her finger dermal piercing in a TikTok caption reported by E! News, while Kim Kardashian had earlier explained a separate controversy over North’s Halloween costume. The two incidents happened months apart and involved different things: the Halloween look used fake tattoos and a fake septum piercing; the finger piercing was reported as a dermal piercing seen in Rome in August 2025.
What North said about the finger piercing
E! News reported that on December 9, 2025, North posted a TikTok captioned, “this is for everyone that’s mad over a finger piercing.” The outlet’s article page was inaccessible, so the available report supports the caption and post date, but not additional details about the video or the criticism. Kim’s comments concerned a different backlash
In October 2025, North’s Halloween-season look drew criticism for blue highlights, fake face tattoos and a fake septum piercing. Us Weekly reported that North responded through the shared TikTok account with, “This is such a non-issue.”
In a November 5, 2025 appearance on Complex’s “GOAT Talk,” Kardashian said the look was a costume and described North’s reaction: “She was like, ‘I don’t get it. It’s a Halloween costume. What is known about the dermal piercing
Allure reported that North was seen with a dermal piercing on her right middle finger while in Rome in August 2025. Unlike a conventional earring, a dermal piercing uses a small anchor beneath the skin to hold jewelry; it does not have a separate entry and exit point. Allure
In Allure’s January 14, 2026 article, dermatologist Mona Gohara said micro-dermal anchors can be safe in ideal locations when implant-grade titanium is used. She also identified possible irritation, infection, scarring and rejection, noting that finger placement is exposed to movement. These are general risks discussed in the article, not a diagnosis of North or a comprehensive clinical assessment.
