Body-camera footage from Karen Huger’s March 2024 crash and arrest was reported as public after a Maryland jury convicted her in December 2024. What the body-camera footage reportedly shows
FOX 5 DC described footage of first responders and police interacting with Huger after her Maserati crashed in Potomac, Maryland. The outlet reported that she refused a breathalyzer, said “I’m lit,” and told an officer she should have taken a cab instead of driving. Its account also described the damaged car and Huger’s arrival at the police station. These details are based on the outlet’s description of the footage.
The video became public after the jury’s December 2024 verdict, according to FOX 5 DC. The quoted remark is a reported moment from the footage, not a complete account of the evidence or a substitute for the jury’s findings.
What happened in the crash
The crash occurred late on March 19, 2024, in Potomac. The Los Angeles Times reported that police responded at approximately 11:50 p.m. to a single-vehicle crash in which the Maserati crossed a median and struck street signs. FOX 5 DC described the car as leaving the road, crossing the median and hitting a tree, and reported that it was badly damaged. The accounts differ in the roadside objects they specify.

What the jury decided
In December 2024, a Maryland jury convicted Huger of DUI, negligent driving, failure to control speed to avoid a collision, and failure to notify authorities of an address change. It acquitted her of reckless driving, according to the Los Angeles Times and FOX 5 DC.
The “I’m lit” remark drew attention in coverage of the footage, but it should not be treated on its own as the legal basis for the verdict. The conviction and acquittal were the jury’s determinations on the charges.

Huger’s remarks and sentence
At sentencing, Huger acknowledged the footage, telling the court, “The body cameras definitely prove that they were right and I was wrong,” and “I should’ve handled the situation differently,” CBS Baltimore reported. Those comments came after the verdict; they are distinct from the words attributed to her in the footage.
On February 26, 2025, a judge sentenced her to two years, with one year suspended. ABC News reported that the sentence included one year to be served at Montgomery County Correctional Facility, five years of probation, $2,900 in fines, and a one-year driving restriction after release. These are the terms reported when the sentence was announced.

What is known about later case developments
The reporting cited here establishes the December 2024 verdict and the sentence announced in February 2025. It does not establish a later appeal outcome, custody status, or release date. Maryland’s Judiciary points the public to Case Search for Circuit and District Court records, but the cited coverage does not provide a subsequent individual docket update.
