Joe Don Rooney and Tiffany Fallon’s divorce was finalized in late September 2023, according to People’s report on the decree. Their case included competing allegations about the marriage, disputes involving money and Rascal Flatts’ possible future, and a parenting arrangement that gave each parent 182.5 days a year. The reported decree denied spousal support and ordered Rooney to pay $791 per week in child support.
When did Joe Don Rooney and Tiffany Fallon divorce?
Rooney and Fallon married on April 23, 2006, according to a Rascal Flatts announcement. Rooney filed for divorce in January 2021, initially citing irreconcilable differences. The marriage ended legally when the court entered its final decree in late September 2023, as reported by People.
Why was the divorce contentious?
Accounts of the case described disagreements over the reasons the marriage ended, finances, parenting, and whether Rascal Flatts might reunite. The public reporting distinguishes sharply between claims made in filings and findings in the final decree: the accusations were part of the dispute, not all established facts.
Competing claims about the marriage
In its January 2023 account, People described a he-said/she-said dispute. It reported that both parties admitted adultery in filings. Fallon attributed the breakdown to Rooney’s alleged habitual alcohol and drug use. Rooney disputed her characterization and acknowledged treatment for alcohol use disorder, according to the same account. These descriptions reflect the parties’ positions as reported during the proceedings; they should not be read as a complete set of court findings.

The account also described a DUI case and a stay at a Utah treatment facility. The published figures for that stay are inconsistent in scale and framing, so a precise cost should not be treated as settled from these reports.
Money and Rascal Flatts’ future
Fallon sought future spousal support, with the possibility of a Rascal Flatts reunion part of the dispute over finances. Rooney disputed that the band planned to reunite. The band’s 2020 breakup was discussed as a stressor in coverage of the case, but the available reporting does not establish it as the sole cause of the divorce. The final decree, as later reported, denied spousal support.

What did the final decree reportedly decide?
People reported on a copy of the final decree in December 2023. It quoted the court as saying: “The Court finds that each of the parties bears a share of the responsibility for the demise of this marriage.” The reported language assigns shared responsibility rather than adopting one party’s account as the sole explanation.

What the case does—and does not—show
The decree’s reported terms resolve the practical questions about parenting time and support, while its quoted language rejects a one-sided account of the marriage’s end. The pre-decree reports explain why the proceedings drew attention, but allegations about substance use, adultery, and the band’s future should remain attributed to filings or the parties rather than repeated as proven causes.
